WTF? Dumbasses.Proponents of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve legislation aren't arguing that stopping the flow of oil to the reserve will have a dramatic effect on the price of crude, but they figure it couldn't hurt.
Ok, 97% full is good enough. No big deal, but don't go selling any of it to lower prices. Many Democrats and Republicans in Congress say it doesn't make sense for the government to essentially purchase oil for a reserve 97 percent full when crude is costing more than $120 a barrel.
rollcall @ senate.govWho was the one negative vote?
like any good fox hunt, give the bastard a head startResults of roll call votes are published here approximately an hour after they have been announced.
Me: I can't believe I agree with him. Isn't Allard a tool?
Did Bush open reserves last summer or te one before to lower prices? maybe re-stocking from that?2) what were the reserves used for that they are not at 100% ?
the gulf de mejiko is the source for 1/4 of our fuel, and katrina took 95% offline. maybe that was when. unsure.Did Bush open reserves last summer or te one before to lower prices? maybe re-stocking from that?
i think you're rightthe gulf de mejiko is the source for 1/4 of our fuel, and katrina took 95% offline. maybe that was when. unsure.
Why not reduce demand? WTF is wrong with people?Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said more domestic oil production is needed to keep prices in check and to reduce U.S. dependence on oil imports. "We cannot repeal the law of supply and demand....We need to increase supply in order to lower gas prices," said McConnell.
Jenna had a date... needed lube.Did Bush open reserves last summer or te one before to lower prices? maybe re-stocking from that?

ya, so we're not filling the reserves anymore when the price is $120, what happens in a year when the price is $200? or more? While I really don't believe 70000 Barrelas a Ady is really going to Make a difference on the market .
and that the reserves are at 97% which really is Pretty good if you ask me .
in addition to that, while reserves are at 97%, Bush Admin believes that the reserve levels were outdated and reserve capacity should really be double of what it currently is.ya, so we're not filling the reserves anymore when the price is $120, what happens in a year when the price is $200? or more?
you mean that as daily consumption goes up, we should have more in reserve?? wow, that's a novel idea...in addition to that, while reserves are at 97%, Bush Admin believes that the reserve levels were outdated and reserve capacity should really be double of what it currently is.
Double.
This 'legislation' and the gas tax vacation are fockin' dumb.
end user consumption has zero to do with federal reserves.you mean that as daily consumption goes up, we should have more in reserve?? wow, that's a novel idea...
97 senators disagreeend user consumption has zero to do with federal reserves.
after doing some research, it appears they have been adding capacity in 2003 , our capacity was at 562,000,000 Barrels , they Brought the capacity up to 703,000,000 and after Katrina Hit , it wasdecided we needed to bring the reserve up to capacity sincethen they have added capacity for 24,000,000 more barrels , with plans to bring another 123,000,000 barrels online.the gulf de mejiko is the source for 1/4 of our fuel, and katrina took 95% offline. maybe that was when. unsure.
actually what I find more interesting /telling is that McCain didn't vote!
i noticed that too.actually what I find more interesting /telling is that McCain didn't vote!
Not all of it. It all meets EPA guidelines, the same as every other barrel of oil entering the US for refining.and another interesting thing about it is the 70000 Barrels a day that we are putting in there is a Lower grade Crude with a Higher sulfer ( more pollution petential ) content.
Yup and as a bonus side effect, it keeps your embassy's safer as the locals can't afford to fill the molotov's anymore.So--capitalism's cool until you have to face its real effects? Isn't the market supposed to drive our consumption down as prices rise and make us find alternatives? Isn't that the goddamned POINT?!
And we're STILL cheaper than most of the rest of the world.
I didn't say It didn't Meet EPA guidlines , having more sulfur content just means it is going to take longer and a couple of more steps to refine. Not all of it. It all meets EPA guidelines, the same as every other barrel of oil entering the US for refining.
