Lately Ive been having some serious problems with "Skipping" and "Ghost shifting"....Now to make this quick, Ill ask the question : Tightening my cables for the front and rear derailluer (along with repositing the rear) oughta have me all set right?

Also: Neither the Rear nor the Front sprockets are chipped or bent etc.

Thanks for the time, guys,
Rob

Check and make sure your derailuer hanger isn't bend. The hanger should come straight down under the cog that the chain is on. Also check the 2 cogs on the derailuer and make sure the teeth are not bent.

If none of these or your rings or cogs are bent, and you can't get it to stop after adjusting your barrel adjusters, then my only other guess is your chain or your rings and/or cogs are worn.

well, first off there is a big difference between skipping and ghost shifting. skipping means your cassette is worn, and will usually happen in the smaller cogs in the rear when you're pedaling real hard (also if you don't have enough chain tension ie. when the cage on your rear derailleur is jammed in place). ghost shifting could be a couple of problems.

1. your derailleur is maladjusted if this is the case I explain it here.

2. you don't have enough cable tension (ie the spring in your derailleur is weak) This can be solved with a bassworm or pulling your cables and lubing them up to reduce friction.

3. your hub is loose

4. you have some other problem that is really unusual.

Yeah i tcould be many things. Cable tension, bent hanger, bent dreaileur, worn out cogs, chain.
