In the manual and in the little video on the Fox site they say to use honey slick grease for the seals.

Can any other grease can be used?

Seems each time I buy a new item, it needs a specific oil or grease...

I was thinking of using some Judy Butter I got laying around somewhere...

The Honey Slick grease can be bought in a little syringe for about five bucks, so it would not be a big investment. But, if it were mine, I would just use the Judy Butter, it is designed to work with the rubber parts in suspension and I think that chamber seal is teflon anyway.

Judy butter is way too thick imo, but you won't damage your shock by using it. That was originally made for elastomers, but the new formula of it is used for some fork aplications, like greasing up the u-turn assembly.

For the price of a few slick honey syringes at your lbs, you can get a huge tub of it online.

I now use the new reformulated manitou prep m lube for my float. The new stuff is almost exactly like slick honey, and probably cheaper than slick honey at your lbs.

Definitely do not use the old prep m lube, which was dark blue, almost black. I like the new formula better than slick honey. Seems to be just a little thinner.

is what you want and one that won't affect the rubber and plastic parts inside. I think the first Judy Butter was a sticky goo. Think of the worst cold you ever had. The newer stuff is quite thin according to my buddy who uses it on wipers and seals. I bought a small jar of the Slick Honey though for that purpose. Its good stuff.

What about Tri-Flow? If the Float has a teflon seal...why not a teflon lube?

The guy at my LBS said to use "a wax-based lube"- I'm thinking, what, White Lightning???? I don't think so...
