I'm setting aside $850 for the new 36, think that will be enough?

Since all the press releases I've seen say that it will be available late August, you would think there would be some information out by now.

i should hurry up and put my order in!

woohoo...

actually...i do not think this will be cheap, think of how much those F100x and F80x models are...like 700 something. The 36 will definitely not be cheap. Probably one of the #1 reasons I'm starting a shop job again next week :p

Just don't start any posts on this board with "well I'm a mechanic and I've never seen blah blah boxxer evil blah blah" :nope: :blah:

But yeah, I think that would be a good fork for one of my bikes but I gravely fear the price. Honestly though, if you look at the target crowds, I think the "x" forks were so pricey because of whom they were geared towards......the same people who would pay $800 for a sid with 12 handlebar mounted nintendo controls, carbon vapor filled air springs etc. Maybe a practical fork like this one will be immune? I love to dream.

woo, you confused? The 38 is the single crown, 20mm slalomish fork...
You mean 36? ;)

Maybe I wasn't clear to those who aren't the voices in my head. JM made a point about the terralogic forks being expensive and I suggested it may just be the market xc geeks who spend as much money on tricked out hardtails as we do on dh rigs.

What I was trying to say was that maybe the more trail bikeish 36 would be free from this high price target audience since it's not a serious racer boy fork. ie: "I must have this fork to win races" Those folks are known to spend money on very minor improvements between models.

36 ya, oops. I just thought you may have been thinking it was the ridiculously high end DH fork. That WILL be about twice what his budget is probably, out in a few weeks tho..woohoo!

I think a couple of down hills suffer from that problem too.

Yeah I was thinking that right when I hit the submit reply button. :p

Me? I just steal sh!t from peoples trucks in northstar's parking lot. I wait until I find someone hurt on the hill and when they go to the medical tent, I ask for their keys so that I can come help drive them home. Then I clean them out. Soooo much cheaper that way.

Beware: by bringing up the "36" you're inviting a slag-fest on new products.

PS: I hope $850 is going to include tax, registration, shipping, install, spare springs and a couple Fox shirts and a pint glass or two.

$850 for a single crown fork is just CRIMINAL :mumble:

WTF?

I think high-end single crown forks are a bargain, especially now that they can offer 6-7" travel, which is plenty for just about everything. Why does it cost $500-1000 EXTRA for 6-8" of extra stantion tube, a top crown and 1-2" more travel?

Good point...and while we are at it, why does a 1998 super T cost $2400 :D

From Dirtworks Au

"FOX racers will be riding and testing 36 during the (northern hemisphere) summer (local winter). Production models will be available in late Spring (September 2004)."

This is what all press releases that I have seen say.

thats from the aussie fox distro site (dirtworks)

spring is in september in australia, hence the 'summer (local winter)' reference.

The original version of that page didn't have the clarifications in brackets. It just referred to summer and spring.

Quite why they felt the need to mix hemispheres I have no idea.
