Anyone here been through changing out the bolts on the Slider? I'm trying to find specs (and McMaster-Carr or another distributor's part numbers if possible) for new crown and axle clamp bolts of higher quality than the ones Manitou provides. I realize that lesser-quality bolts are sort of a safety measure, becaue the bolt rounds out before you can strip threads in the castings, but the Manitou bolts are just too damned soft to use.

Anyone know? I realize I could measure and pick through the catalog and compare, but it'd be easier and more accurate if someone's already done it...

I've changed out the bolts on the top crown because manitou didn't send them when they sent my crown. But unfortunatly I cant remember the size. But all I did was bring a bolt to the fastener stor by me and match them up. I believe you can get the bolts from home depot if you don't have a fastener speciality store near you.

check this thread yo. I have been meaning to do this for sometime now but i am lazy & know i will regret it when my axle bolt finally strips.

That thread makes it sound like the bolt was cross threaded. I have had no problems like that with the old bolts, and like i said I only bought new ones because they weren't furnished with the new top crown.
