OK so for you who are in the know. I've got a new manitou slider and want to dial it all in.
Top adjuster knob is slow compression??? The stiffer I set it the less bob/brake dive? Any bad points of setting it too stiff.
Bottom adjuster is rebound, needs to be set fast enough that it wont pack up with repeated quick hits.
Internal shims are high speed compression adjustment.... I'm not to sure how to best set this.
Spring, used to set preload and will affect bottoming....??? I can bottom the stock one off of a 3foot drop with no problem now. I've got some extra heavy springs on the way(I'm 220lbs)
I've got it on a 2step and do lots of slow speed technical riding with a few quick downhills( no shuttling). Huck 4-6feet and wheelie drop 3-5 feet. Lots of lofts up onto ledges, you know regular west coast kinda stuff. Any rule of thumb type things anyone uses when first setting up a fork or is it all trial and error.
