Hello, I recently rebuilt my 2003 Sherman slider to change the oil and re-grease the innards. But when I reassembled it when I compress the fork it makes a resonating rubbery 'wwwwhhhaaaaaaaa' noise! So I pulled it apart again everything was in place (to the absolute best of my knowledge) I pulled the spring and compressed the fork and there was no noise coming from any of the damper or bushing. So I popped the spring back in and with the lowers still removed I pushed on the spring side and the noise was still there. The fork also seems a bit stiffer? I’m guessing its the spring binding against the inner stanchion. Is there some special trick to fix this? I DID re-greased the spring

Take out the spring and look into the botom of the fork. There should be a piece of metal wire sticking up in the middle. Sometimes this wire gets bent and you have to straighten it out to get the fork to work right again.

I worked on one a few months ago and it was doing what you are describing. It was a MAJOR pain to fix. Hell, i'm getting mad just thinking about it!
