I pulled the travel adjust cap off, turned it a little and set it back down (it's a hex cap and a hex hole in the bottom of the cap, so you just turn it so it sits rotated by one "side" - hard to explain, just pick up the cap, rotate it 15 degrees, and put it back on). Try doing that a couple times to see if the cap just isn't aligned with the little "dog ears" that hold the spring down.
That's probably the issue and is the simplist thing that goes wrong. If that doesn't work, Manitou has a service manual on pulling the travel adjuster apart to fix it.
How many times did you try moving it? The clicking sound is the dog ears not quite engaging, so they need to be moved further. Maybe one or two more turns - you might have had it 180 degrees off.
Check Manitou's website for the service manual - they've got instructions on taking the adjuster apart.
Alright, I will check it out.
I took the top cap completely off and took the spring out. Something is wrong because when I put the spring in, you are supposed to preload it by turning it clockwise before you put the top cap back on. It just spins freely for me. WHatever is supposedt o engage does does. That's why I think it needs to be reset or something.
i have the same problem, i came online to post it just now.
also, when i took the fork apart, there was a black collar type thing, i set it down. when i was putting it back together i forgot where it went. i put it on the bottom of the right fork leg, on the compression side. is this the right place to put it? because the other leg has that spongy thing ont he bottom.
i checked out the schematic on manitou's site but it didnt help me much
oh i put it flat side down. the side that is like a little disk.
Yeah, it goes on the spring side. I got mine back together but my travel adjust still does not work and it makes a click. DAMMIT.
