Front Range, dude...
Well, I swore I would leave this one alone, but I just had to post this...

According to AP, Paris Hilton recently said, "I was shocked to see all the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials. I would hope going forward that the public and the media would focus on more important things like the men and women serving our country in Iraq and other places around the world."

Bullsh*t...blowjob...bullsh*t...
Its like a bad car wreck, I cant stop looking. Make it stop, make the bad woman go away...

If there is any justice in the world, Paris will be shanked in jail. Sharpened toothbrush, right in the neck.

My personal feelings about her are that of apathy, but I don't get where all the seething hatred for this chick comes from. By all accounts she has not caused anyone any harm. I have a hard time understand why the American public takes so much joy in seeing her crying and going through personal pain.

"WOO HOOO! I hope she gets raped and beaten in prison!11!!111!"

Ehhhh...why?

I think it's kinda strange that everyone hates her for no reason.
I think it's strange you fail to see the negative influence she has on some youth.

If she wants to be a jackass, that's fine. But to publicly promote being a jackass bothers me. I'm just glad my daughter is smart enough to see how public stupidity effects a person based on her example. Not all young girls are that smart.

Well, aside from the fact that I'm mostly joking and really don't have any deep-seated hatred for her, most of the public venom comes from the fact that she's a spoiled b*tch who thinks she's entitled to be exempt from the consequences of her actions, which has been demonstrated repeatedly throughout this trial process. Combine that with her IQ that surely rivals her bra size, and her various taped & photographed sexual escapades that suggest she is simply a wanton slut, and you've got a pretty good target for people to loose some anger at. Her TV show where she demonstrates a total lack of respect for everyone around her hasn't helped, either. None of this is a good influence those impressionable people who watch it. The fact that society will even accept someone like her is a lousy indicator of what should or should not be acceptable social behavior.

There are a lot of people that are openly the target of hostility and probably don't deserve all of it. I have a tough time feeling sorry for someone like Paris Hilton, though.

Resentment for someone who has achieved tremendous success through being nothing more than a spoiled rich ****up (insert Bush joke here). The irony here is that her success is entirely due to the attention those same people give her for being a spoiled rich ****up.

Oh, come on. Give her a dick and she'd be teen-idol in the mold of Bam or Ashton.

I'd say the emotion you're seeing from people that care so much about something that they claim not to care about is a healthy cocktail of schadenfreude, jealousy, and misogyny.

That's pretty much what I think, although I had to look up wtf two of those words meant.

I dunno...I just find her harmless. She might be rich and spoiled, but she's not hurting anyone.

The "OMG there is a god, she's going to jail!! Praise Allah!!" sentiment is kind of rediculous.

You can make this about gender if you want, and maybe to some people, it is.

I think she's a useless sack of skin who does nothing but impact the world around her in a negative way. I don't follow much in Hollywood - who the fvck is Bam? - but if Ashton Kutcher has multiple sex videos made of him, numerous shots of him baring his junk on a night out on the town, starred in a show like The Simple Life where - setup or not - normal families have their daily routine and lives humiliated, degraded and disrespected, and he wailed for his mommy after a failed attempt to buy off multiple DWI offenses & scam his way out of jail... Well, he's on the same level, then.

I don't have any distinction for gender. There is certainly a part of me that enjoys seeing someone so utterly worthless get their comeuppance, though, so you're right on one of the counts.

Maybe it's not for you but compare her treatment to, say, Prince Harry (or is it Andrew? The slutty one...). Every time you call her a huge slut, I can't help but think that if she were a guy she'd be somewhat admired as an idiot/bad-boy/chick-slayer.

Yup, she's stupid, spoiled, and has never been held accountable for anything (again, insert President joke here), but either she was smart enough to figure out that it was her cash-cow, or it has encouraged her through attention and success to take that behavior to the extreme. If a 16 year old acts like an asshole, and you give her a modeling gig as a result, and then acts like more of an asshole at 18, and you give her a TV show as a result, can you really blame her for acting like an asshole and expecting to be treated like royalty?

I have no great love for this girl, and I'm glad she's serving the sentence, but the emotions that have come out of our society have really caught my eye... and in general (both celebrating and dispising her... but rarely just lampooning her) are pretty pathetic. She should be a talk-show joke, but to see mainstream news coverage and debate (DEBATE!) on this is amazing to me.
