I'm having a bit of trouble with the ebayer that sold me the cannondale roadie. Made the sale on Tuesday night. Payment via pay pal Wednesday morning. She has asked me for my phone number like different times 5 times (each time I have given it to her). She said she needed it for Fedex and was going to send the item out on Wednesday. This morning I sent her a message asking what the tracking number was... and she replied with... I need your phone number for fedex.

The whole deal is starting to make me nervous. I gave her my number again but I think if she hasnt at least sent it by monday that I am going to contest the payment through pay pal... am I overreacting?

have you asked her if she has recieved your prior mails containing your #...?? Ask her for specifics about the situation. No one knows what is going on except her. Nail her down, get specifics, tell her what you want and when you waant it. If she doesn't stick to the plan, file a claim!

but....

There is also a possibility that they end up in her trash due to filtering and/or she is just stupid.

I suppose that could be. Stupid people should be wiped off the planet, natural selection is far too slow... especially when it comes to getting bike s & bike products in the mail.

I have been very seriously considering starting to sell some stuff that I have lying around on ebay, but stories like this make me not want to deal with the hassle. And also that no one will want to buy things unless you have a ton of positive approval...how do you start?

Not to bastardize your thread, Golg, but it just made me think about it again. It seems like stress hell ebaying. Ive bought some things, but wow...

When I upped and moved to NZ I just got on Ebay and sold so much crap starting from no rep. You'll be fine Shirl, just start with some cheaper items.

BS - Start with the less expensive items to rise your status, then go for the bigger ticket items.

I'm so sick of the people on Ebay. It seems that most are either stupid or they are scammers.

I've sold a bunch of stuff this year and probably about 1/3 of my sales I've had problems with because of non-paying bidders or people trying to weasle out of it. I had one dude that tried to return a part becasue it was "heavily used and the wrong size"... but it was brand new (OEM take off) and the size was as listed. I'm pretty sure he was going to send me back his old part and claim it was the one I sent.

Once you have a transaction with someone on Ebay you have access to their phone number and they have the same. I would call and talk to her if you feel uneasy about the situation. On Ebay is getting more difficult to sell because Ebay themselves are so lose with the rules. They're just in it for the money. I think once I'm done with my next 2 lots I will no longer be a powerseller. It's getting to be more trouble than it's worth....D

That's why I pay via paypal, take only paypal payments, and only ship to paypal verified addresses.

It costs a couple bucks in fees, but it's saved my ass more than once. Ebay is the same as anything else online. If you are smart about it, it's no problem. They do have some funky rules (like you have up to 30 days to ship and item).

I jsut got an email addressed to "my goodest freind" asking about something I am selling on Ebay. It ended up with him asking if I would take a check via mail and if I would ship to Korea...
Yeah, right...

Exactly...I always get the folks who don't have a confirmed address...then they wonder what's the big deal??? I hate people who don't read before they buy....D

Okay, wife just called... bike is delivered. Oh and she (the seller) ended up calling me saying that she wasnt getting my messages until several hours after I sent them... Hence the repeat questions.

False alarm on my part, but still... when I pay money to someone I dont know I am automatically more prone to being suspicious.
