I've got some Deore 555 hydros, and the lever looks similar (identical?) to the 755/756 levers. Does anyone know if these levers are truly interchangable? That is, I'd like to set up some of the newer XT or Saint calipers but keep my current levers. Does this work? If so, which lines would i use?

Yes. Any Shimano hydraulic lever is compatible with any Shimano hydraulic caliper.

Yeah, you just need to make sure the lines are compatible with the levers, the connector at the caliper work either way.
