As I recall it was a mid-80's upper level group somewhere below dura ace but comparable to 600/ultegra or thereabouts, pretty decent stuff. You can probably find more info with a general internet search.

Nam I am
Late 80's early 90's SHimano came up with the great I dea of making a Groupe between ultegra and Dura ace that was made with Looks in mind , hence the gruopos were either completly white ( they even had a white chain ) or later a completly black set . the White is the more comonly seen . It did not last very long maybe 2 or 3 years . I have a Wheel whith a Sante Hub and a Campy rim.

Sante was a out in the mid to late 80s, around 86-88 is I'm paring it right with what year i was in school. 7spd, had biopace rings. The color was an Acrylic enamel if i remember right and all the parts were 5000, 5001, and 5002 in shimano part numbers.

Was decent stuff, aimed mainly at people who didn't ride but wanted "stylish" parts.

I just looked around a little bit on the intarweb, sounds like they used a bianchi-specific mix of SL and lesser Columbus tubes badged as Formula 1 or Formula 2.

Sweet ride. Clean it up and get some 7sp Tiagra brifters and it would be good to go. Love the chrome stays and fork legs.

I haven't heard from the CList seller - and who knows another guy looking specifically for a 52 here in CT may have snagged it. Gotta check with him to find out.

No, it slotted between DA and 600(Ulterga). I remember the product brochure talking about DA was the only stuff that had better performance.

You are correct sir - I did some e-sleuthing yesterday and that's what I found out that it fell in between DA and ultegra/600

I was joking with my Shimano rep that they should have called Ultegra SL Sante instead.
He said that they couldn't because in the first month they'd sold like 1,000x as many SLs as Sante.

Didn't you just buy a road bike?
