Ok so I have been setting up my new 4-pots from Monkeybidnezz (thanks again) and think 2 of my pistons might not be set in properly? I've never had Shimano before so Im running blind here. Anyhow heres a picture to show what Im talking about

A: the 2 pistons I think are to far out.
B: Notice how these 2 are not as far out.

How do I push the pistons back in? Do I need to, or is it ment to be that way?

I've been working with shims and cant get it just right, its always to much on either end.

*Also, Im running Hayes disc instead of the Shimano disc if that makes a difference*

Thanks.

i have a set of these brakes and they always dragged when using hayes rotors. i also found that the pistons on mine did the same thing, but once i matched the shimano rotors and shimano calipers it was alot easier to center. weird. hope that helped.

Yeah they look a little uneven, but really not too bad. As you've figured out, ideally the caliper is centered over the rotor.

You can spread the pads by removing the wheel and gently prying the pads apart with the handle of a cone wrench or another wide, flat object. Don't use something sharp like a screwdriver or you'll mess up the pads. Once the pads are all the way out, reinstall and use the shims to center the caliper.

Some of those shims are super thin, so you should be able to get the caliper centered rather than end up with too much one way or the other. It might not be perfect. Also, it's hard to tell from the pic but if those are not new pads you should start with a fresh set.

The hayes rotor shouldn't matter, I use the same set up with no problems.

hmm well I spent alot of time fooling around with spacers, ended up using all of the spacers the shop gave me. I didnt have the same amount on either bolt...but I suppose that makes since, just surprized me.

But anyways, thanks.
I hope in the future to get matching Shimano rotors, becuase from my understanding they are a little thinner. (and cooler looking)

First things first...Straitline levers!
