I'm deciding between the two levers for trials, I've heard the SD7 levers developed play which is true, but the XTs are a bit more expensive (2x as much). Should i just risk getting the Avids or XTs?

after 10 months my sd7's have no more play than they had when new. I don't do trials and I use mechanical discs but still I don't think you'd be dissapointed with them. Besides by the time they would develop play you would have smashed them so much that it would be time to replace them rather they were cheap avids or expensive XT's.

after enough use and abuse, especially with trials, all levers will eventually develop a bit of play. I dig both the Avid and Shimano levers, though I run the XTRs. I usually use Avid levers for my trials bike because of the whole speed dial thing and because they are cheaper to replace if and when I destroy them. I'd say go with the Avids and be sure to get some GOOD cable housing- think Avid Flak Jacket or Shimano DuraAce because the added stiffness will give you a noticable boost in power.
