You don't even need to know where the trim-cutout switches are. It's all taken care of. We all just go in the back and bounce off the walls. What could go wrong, it's party time!
The company that operates that 727 is actually up here in Alaska.

Wife heard this on the radio yesterday and is now officially panicking. Doesn't exactly give me warm fuzzies. Now on May flying schedule, and it's pretty fucking grim.

Look at the projections. 1 million infections in August. Do you really think people will be flying then? Only way I will is if I get vaccinated or have positive antibody test. We can pretend to open the economy back up, but a large part of the population will be avoiding planes, casinos and restaraunts. Despite some states doing a decent job of limiting this, others like Iowa are in full derp mode. This will hurt us nationally for a long long time. It is almost as though we should have some central governing organization to to put together a nation wide strategy.

Honestly? No, I don't. I think this industry is fucked.

I'm already looking into alternate employment, but pickings are pretty slim around here or are significant pay cuts. Belts are going to get pretty tight in the Pesqueeb household is what I think.

Anything in the solar world?
I've looked a little, but so far haven't seen anything I thought I was terribly qualified for. Wind is probably more up my alley, its just a big propeller, put into reverse. Haven't seen anything yet that wouldn't require a move.

Pressure really isn't on yet. The layoffs will start mid September. I figure job browsing is safe for now, anything super interesting I'll put in for just to see what happens. My seniority/company cash on hand should keep me employed for a year. After that ??????

Edit: I'm still hoping to come up with a way to pay off the house. If I can cook up 64K-ish in cash before the bottom drops out, I could pay off the house and work at jiffy-lube if I had to. Of course, the trick is pulling that kind of cash out of thin air.

Edit 2: The other possibility that came up last night is selling now and renting for a while. Market is still up here. Sell high, time market, ????, profit?

Cargo companies are likely the only near-term future in aviation.

If CO loses tourism for a while I wouldn’t want to be on the angry side of the future tax bills either.

That's the one upside of TABOR. We'll just constrict services radically and see where that leads us.

Greetings countrymen!

It's funny how many people I see in CO and NV bitching about getting californicated. I'm guessing they've never tried to use the shipping ports in Denver or Reno.

I think we all hold these truths to be self-evident: This guy is a harvard legacy douchebag that isn't fit to run a convenience store

I've done bird strike, deer, and an assortment of meat of unknown origins, but I've never seen this before.
I wouldn't be attempting to swerve a 737, it's going to be landing straight. Lights wouldn't light up something a few thousand feet down till you get closer. Horrible accident. If it's past civil twilight, the runways are basically just big "black holes" and the aircraft lights only give you a little heads up of approaching the surface...not what's way down the runway.

I understand how it happens. Doesn't make the paperwork any easier, or the cleanup less gruesome. I got a shiny quarter says this gets labeled a suicide.

Those guys do get out of their trucks all the time to do stuff, chase wildlife, fix a light, etc., supposed to have radios and supposed to coordinate with the tower. Not out of place, but usually supposed to be strictly controlled. Anything is possible at this point, including that.

Delta's early retirement program provides pilots partial pay for up to three years and extended health insurance coverage.
Worth noting that 58 flight hours /= to 58 work hours, but Christ Almighty, if I got offered a deal like that, I'd be gone.....

How many employees does it take to equal one annual CEO salary?

I have a different idea.
As Chief Executive Officer at United Airlines Holdings, Inc., Oscar Munoz made $12,643,005 in total compensation. Of this total $1,250,000 was received as a salary, $2,887,500 was received as a bonus, $0 was received in stock options, $8,062,572 was awarded as stock and $442,933 came from other types of compensation.

You have to keep those guys motivated or they will slack off. Then they you have to give them their $30,000,000 severance pay to get them out of the way.

how do they even survive?! This must be why no successful Japanese companies exist.
