Shiver or DH 2.0?

So then yeah, the added bushings would in fact reduce the twist by not allowing one leg to pass in front of/behind the other in a side impact in the wheel, trying to "twist" the fork. So in effect the line of bushings is just as, if not more relevant to limiting movement as stantion diameter. I guess the friction of more bushings becomes an issue in the stroke though. But this would make sense based on what some folks here have said (like me) that the WB forks for some reason don't feel as twisty as the bigger shivers if in fact there is a longer surface of bushing contact in the WB forks. This might also explain why the shivers feel smoother in their stroke than do the WB forks.

well, theres a give and take for sure, but you'd really have to go case by case to determine that, and i wouldnt make a hard rule about it. The extra bushings could be a bonus to stiffness, but the extent of the effect vs. a bigger fork would have to be directly compared; there are simply too many variables. In a real life situation, the effect may even be negligible and other design aspects as mentioned (drop/axle design, fork height, crowns, fork width) could be the main contributor to the increase in stiffness.

I just wanted to show the principal and that it could be a factor, not actually prove its relevant and the main reason, because that would involve alot more work than 10mins on CAD ;)

All I know is that I went and talked to people who have ridden everything that's ever been in the DH market since the beginning and have seen everything come into their shop broken or whatever else. I"ll trust them when they tell me the Shiver is like a wet noodle compared to the white brothers fork. I'm sure they are both good forks but it seems like the white brothers is a better choice at least for me.

thats a bit of an overstatement. the shiver isnt flexy, its just that at least to me the wb`s are the stiffest ive tried (not done any real dh on the triple8 though, but i can compare with boxxers, other marzos and dorados)

Ok Ok I guess it sounds a bit harsh. I'm pretty sure that the person I was talking to just meant that in comparison to the white brothers fork. Not so much that the shiver sucks and is flexy just in comparison to the white brothers it feels flexy.

Any chance I can meet up with one of you Seattle area guys that has a 2.0 to get a look at it?

You can meet up with me in about 3 weeks when I get my new one!! :D

Oh and the DH zone in seattle has a used what looks like a dh 1.8 up on the wall if you wanna check that one out. I think that fork has slightly different internals though.

Cool, thanks.

You want a Dorado, you should ride my Turner sometime.

I know man, that's supposed to be a great fork and thanks for the offer I"ll have to take you up on that. But there were a bunch of factors keeping me from getting the dorado and deciding on the DH 2.0
