Shock eyelet bushing sources?

Yeah yeah yeah this isn't a DH specific question but it's the only forum I use.

A bushing on my Swinger 3-way air has crapped out and I need a new one. I called Answer and they're out of them, and don't plan on getting another shipment for quite some time.

Does anyone know of any other sources for a few bushings? Fox and Progressive bushings don't fit.

I'm kind of desparate since I ride that bike 2-3 times a week on long rides and that clunking is driving me insane!

I find it funny that answer is out of parts and they don't plan on getting any for a while. Are they planning on pulling out of the suspension market?

Have you tried a bearing supply store? I don't know if the bushings are a standard size or not, if they're standard you should be able to get a dozen for a buck. If that doesn't work maybe you can call Manitou since they made the shock...

Do you have any already pressed out of the eyelets? There should be a number stamped on the outside which would identify it.

www.mcmaster.com usually has anything you could ask for hardware-wise.

I haven't pressed the DU bearings out yet to check the number, but I talked to Fisher and they said it's 8mm ID and 7/8" wide. Stratos is 1/2 or 3/4" ID so those won't work and I couldn't find out what Avalanches are.

Any other sources? I searched online for bearing distributors and haven't had any luck. Maybe I should call Answer back and find out where they get them from.

just run it loose until you can get the replacement parts.
it shouldnt affect performance noticeably at all and it shouldnt cause harm.
yeah it will be on the back of your mind but
'get over it.'
its not like your riding with a duct taped broken wrist.

I know, and I have been running it loose for a while. I'm trying to track down the replacement parts, hence the reason for this thread.

If you're not going to post anything constructive...

Mine came from Manitou about 2 months ago. I just ordered some reducers from Hammerheadbikes, you may try them. 512.331.2002. I hope he can get my reducers.

Hi, I will let you in on a little secret, try to get some polymer bushings to replace the standard DU bushings in your shock. They last longer and seem to work better as well. These are made by IGUS, check out their web site at www.igus.com. Go to the L280 type bushings and see if they have the size you need, next fill out request form on their site and ask for some free samples. I got a couple of sets that way last year and they work great in both a Fox and Romic shock I have.

just waiting on some bushings to show up now. But yeah, it looks nice and it's going to make replacement a lot easier than before with all the 'jerry-rigged' contraptions i had made for the process.
