This may seem dumb and i thought i know the answer but here we go
When a shock is linear what does it exactly mean, and same with progressive?

Linear travel means that the travel has the same feel all the way through- the compression & spring rate stays the same. When a shock is progressive, the compression & spring rate "ramps up", or gets stiffer through the travel. This gives plush initial travel, but resists bottoming towards the end of the travel.
