I had to replace the laces in my hiking boots, picked up some Keen branded laces that look similar to that. No issues with them coming untied on me at all.
Yeah it is a pretty cool system, yet still a simple lace.
Leather generally sucks as lacing in my experience.
Fuck velcro. it picks up debris and becomes non-functional rapidly.
I prefer Braided round bootlaces like the ones Redwing sells for their fire/logging boots. they don't slip or melt

I use Lock Laces on my trail runners for hiking. Basically they are bungee cords with a cord lock. Love'em.
