Im getting new shoes and im probably getting a skate style shoe,most likely Vans.I just wanted too see if you guys think this is a good idea or wear em.I ride platforms pedals.

O and i only have 5 posts here but i just discovered RM,i have about 200 at MTBR.

I don't know what type of riding you do, but for XC, a stiffer sole shoe will be more efficient. I originally started out with platforms and wore my Vans. I switched to a pair of low-cut day-hiker type boots and could feel a real difference in energy transfer.

Depends on what you do... for all my riding except urban stuff (which includes riding to the store for that quart o beer) I am clipless. Crank Bros Egg Beaters or Mallets. Sidi shoes. Otherwise it's platforms and Chuck Taylors for me.
