If i am running a 32-11 front chainring setup with an evil drs guide and an 11-32 rear casette, can i use a short cage XT derailleur?

I would say for sure but I was not sure if the chainguide would cause me to have to use a long cage. I would assume I still can use a short cage but i ant confirmation as I do want to be able to run all my gears smoothly but would love to get away with the clearance on the short cage.

Thanks guys!

Yes, that should work. A road derailleur might be pushing it, tho. ;)

You have to look at the back side of the DER. and it usually tells you the max cog size ,and if I`am not wrong the short XT only takes a 30 and maybe even a 28

Well the medium cage will accept a 34 chainwrap.

using the formula, I have (32-22)+(32-11)=31

My question was if the chainguide would be considered more chainwrap since the chain has to go up and over the roller.

Without the chainguide the medium would be fine, I am just not sure if the guide would have any adverse affects on the chainwrap formula.

Thanks!
