Until recently I felt perfectly fine rippin in my cut-off Carrharts. The tush is gettin sore. I'm just lookin for opinions about shorts (not lycra). And I cant afford those $100+ shorts so please keep it on the poverty line......

try lycra under other shorts or shorts with lycra built in. On xc rides I wear lycra under other shorts. on dh type rides its just boxers under the shorts for freedom and air flow.

I rock the lycra w/chamois under my dh/fr shorts or jeans. I'm from the old guard so I still ride uphill at times.
I do have a few pairs of Primal lined shorts. It's a med. length short with a loose-fit lycra & chamois - great for summer.

I just found some Primal Wear camo style cargo ripstop shorts with a liner for 34.99. Seems like a good set-up. Has anyone used Primal Wear gear long-term? How's it hold up?

Just buy a pair of old skewl John Stockton basketball trunks and sew a stay free maxi pad in the crotch and yer set!
