or any american for that matter?

No, he didn't deserve that happened to him, but really, how badly can you feel for a guy who goes into enemy territory to make money off of 'em when you know he knows it's incredibly dangerous to be wandering around on his own.

If another american businessman on his own is murdered, what will you say/think?

He was there of his own free will and had to know that such a venture was risky, but so is riding your bike.

Obviously he thought that the rewards outweighed the dangers and profit is almost always in porportion to risk.

If it happens again I'll still be outraged and disgusted.

Yes. If there is work that someone feels that they can do there, regardless if itis to help or to make a profit, there is no reason to stop them. You warn them and let them know that they are doing it at their own risk... but he's an adult, he can make an educated decision.

Apparently he had a helpful streak and the money would be coming from the companies who's telecom towers he was fixing,
not homeless, single Iraqi mothers.

Perhaps you should do some research into his family's lawsuit against the U.S. for arresting him in Iraq just before he he tried to leave the country, setting into motion the missed flights, delays and circumstances that indirectly led to his kidnapping and demise.

It really doesn't matter, if you've seen the video, it's just wrong.

Crazy shiznitz.

i'm not saying the gov't. should stop people from going, I'm saying should he have gone.

or more to the point, would YOU go? Do you think it's a smart decision for any individual to make?

HELL NO! Is it not common knowledge that Americans are targets!?!?

The scary thing (for me) is that my wife is a reporter, and she'd love to be over there... I'm very happy that she is only at a little local station!!!

I know some guys there right now working as contractors. Making good money and doing good things. They know the risks and our mission there would be much more difficult without them. Im looking into some opportunities there myself actually.

Screw that, especially not as a contractor. If I absolutely had to go Id want to be wearing camo and have a big gun so I could defend myself. Im glad Im not their either way and feel bad for the people that are.

I think an individual should do what they want. If the money was good 6 months ago I'd've considered it...not now. I may not even go to Egypt. In reality I can barely go to the corner store nowadays (got 3 kids and a wife to boot!) I have to sneak out for a tallboy on the stoop.

I wouldn't do it. Too dangerous. Even if the actual risk is small (percentage of people there who end up having problems), it would be too hard and probably not worth the money. I can understand why people would go, though.

His family already has a lawsuit?! Boy, that didn't take long....the jury is still out on what took place, who arrested him and what his travel arrangements were. Bottom line, anyone with a brain would've known that Irag is not a safe place for Americans- and not a good spot to be wandering around trying to find work. You couldn't pay me enough to go over there right now to "repair communications towers".

Just sew canadian flags to all of your clothes. Everyone loves canadians!

But yeah...there's lots of money to be made for those who are willing to put themselves in harm's way. I know a guy doing aersopace design work in Isreal. He gets treated like a king, all his money is tax free....and the rate is mind blowing. but you have to live in Isreal.....

Id prolly hit it if i was stationed in Iraq with her for a year or so, but not just like on a tuesday night or something. No hush hush on the Iraq jobs or nothing. Its all civilian enterprise stuff, but i just want to get finished with damn school already. I need to make money by screwing over people here in the US before anything. And im Polish, not turkish. Though my belarussian (semi) girlfriend person did ask me to take a vacation to turkey this summer, but id prolly get kidnapped by al queda there, and get my skull ripped off on camera or something. Prolly guna try and hit Belarus and Poland up around Christmas time.
