i just realized that for the past 3 weeks i've been wearing headphones at work, but not listening to anything on them.
Just wearing them. I feel comfortable this way and it's starting to scare me.

1) It keeps other happy morning office member from speaking to me

2) It keeps the little voices in my head from escaping so others can hear

I do that all the time when I need to get stuff done. My back faces the door and people come in and start talking to me all the time. I just bob my head and pretend not to hear them.

I was told yesterday The way to find inner peace is to finish all the things you've started.

So this moroning I looked around the house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished...and before leaving the house this morning I finished off a bottle of red wine, bottle of white wine, the Bailey's, Kahlua and Wild Turkey, the Prozac, some Valium, some cheesecake and a box of chocolates.

You have no idea how freaking good I feel.

yeah, but the only thing I'm getting done is figuring out how I want to pimp out my new frame and trolling on this site......

Maybe it just keeps my ears warm???

My boss keeps the AC CRANKED. I bring a jacket to work in the summer.

it's sorta been like an automatic reaction.

I stopped bringing in CD's I guess.. 3 weeks ago. But everytime I sit down at my workstation I put on the headphones and start typing away. It feels weird now to sit down without these ear muffs / people muffs on my head.

i'm not sure i should share this with the shrinker, i gave him a stirr my last visit

he asked me the standard questions.....

Have you ever had thoughts about hurting yourself?
I said, No. If you mean committing suicide, I wouldn't want it to hurt. No.
But I do throw myself and my bike down mountains occasionally and I know it's gonna hurt.

I gotta a couple of nervous looks and lot's of scribbling notes followed by uncomfortable silence.....

Maybe I shouldn't joke with him about stuff like that.....

I have a similar problem only much, much bigger... I have a DH bike tied down in the back of my truck. I don't ride it (way too heavy) but really dig the image I think it conveys. :thumb:

I can't afford a shrink so I confess to you. :blah:

I did the same thing before I started working from home. I put on my headphones but sometimes forget to turn my music on, or after a cd would end I'd just leave 'em on anyway (and yes, they do help keep your ears warm). But they are a great barrier from people disturbing you....especially in an office without cubicles or offices!

That's hilarious! I've yet to visit a therapist (not that I need to, as far as I know), but I'm thinking that the entertainment from messing with him might almost be worth the price of the visit.

Funny, I used to do the same thing when I lived in the dorm. We always kept our door open, so people came in a lot, but if I had the headphones on they'd usually leave.
