Yesterday the U.S. Senate considered a measure that would extend federal unemployment benefits for 13 weeks. Twelve Republicans joined 46 Democrats and independent Jim Jeffords in supporting it--but it failed on a 59-40 vote in favor. Sixty votes were required "to overcome objections that extending the benefits violated last year's budget agreement," as the Associated Press explains.

Bob Dole resigned in 96 to seek the highest office in the land. He was confident he would beat the incumbent, and so were a minority of voters. What lesson can be learned from Dole?

If i were a kerry supporter, i would want him to give full time & attention to bush's ouster, and as such unburden himself from the office of the honorable senator from massachusetts.

Well now...that's a great idea! Let's bring Bush on board with this too...and not to mention EVERY OTHER politician...I think they all should air their dirty laundry in public and apologize for their indiscretions, their unfit behaviors, their lies, their gambles, their cheating on the way to the top and while holding office.

Yep. let's just clean out the closets of all the men and women at the top and any one who can't hack it better step down.

so why should we (the voting populous) expect him to fully serve if elected?
