I know we are supposedly a small portion of the market for this fork but who would like to see the 888 offered in 05 with the lower crowns from the factory? The new lower crowns are supposed to be CNC'ed and low production, so we can't expect them to be included for no additional cost. Personally I will pay a small upcharge to get the crowns with the fork new. I will not buy a 888 and then have to spend an additional $275 to buy the newer crowns.

I know there have been tons of posts on this, but lets see based on some numbers how many people think the current stock crowns are not the way go.

Yes. Why should you have to buy new crowns direct from the manufacturer and have the stock crowns go to waste? They've essentially admitted the stock crowns are flawed, why not offer the correct ones without giving the consumer the shaft?

If they are more expensive to make (CNC'd), raise the price if you choose the lower ones. Maybe $100 more, then it would be much lower than the Go-ride ones, and still lower than the Risse ones (~$200 I think?).

I'm still waiting to see the price on the Fox personally.

YOu should edit your post to include a poll.

A better question would have these options:
If you buy a 2005 888, Which would you prefer?
A. Stock 888 with the tall stock arch crowns (don't need the New crowns)
B. Stock 888 ONLY if the ugrade crowns can be traded at time of purchase (NO ADDED FEE!)
C. Stock 888 - w/ option to CASH upgrade to the NEW Crowns
D. Would not buy stock 888 (too tall)

I was going to add that one but if the crowns are in fact costing much more money to manufacture, I though it may be pushing things a bit. I certainly wouldn't object to gettting the shorter crowns for no additional charge! :D

Plus I can't edit the poll. I have to delete the thread and start over. :mumble:

God, I can only imagine the number of people who are going to answer this poll who have absolutely no direct experience with this fork and are answering based on the fact that "everyone else on the internet says the fork is too high so they must be right and I won't buy the fork without the special nitro-charged crowns..."

bizutch, I'm afraid that your signature has angered me. You must now die.
Lure him in with chocolate and/or a custom painted helmet. These are his weaknesses.
Then beat him severely with a whiffle bat until he agrees to change it and
not behave like a used car salesmen. ;)

the only thing it makes tough for me is it actually added a little over 1/2 inch to my wheelbase. Normally that might not be that noticable, but I like a short wheelbase anyway. With a Boxxer, it was dead on 45.5 inches. with my 888, it is at 46.2"...and that's the part I notice more so than my ride height or head angle. That's the 8" version. Jeremy has the 7" version on his small DHR and it's virtually an unnoticable change. I rode his bike around before and after he puto n the 888 and it felt like the same bike...until plusher.

But don't get me wrong...performance wise, I've never been happier. I can't name anything this season that has been eaiser to ride and just flat out forget about. That was my whole purpose in buying it.

Where's the this is the same thread as the crown height thread and you are not going to change Marzocchi's marketing strategy with a poll option???

Thank you Salami! I'm running the 888's and have been formally approached by Hell's Angel's to join their club.

My wrench informed me just this w/e I'd be best served to re-connect with one of the makers of the after-market crowns and I was suddenly nauseous. I know Mz doesn't give a squat we're crying for change, but PLEASE OH PLEASE lower them bad boys, wouldja? Such a sweet fork otherwise.

side note: Turn down those signatures you screamers!
