i bought a Park PFP-2 while on the road this summer (in Fremont, CA...Performance). after about 10 uses, the gasket inside the barrel tore. awesome. new pump, can't use it, won't be back home for a month and a half. i get home, and Calvin from Park sends me a gasket. pump still is not performing as well as the 4yr old Specialized i had (handle broke, and head...poo).

so...now i'm thinking Silca. anyone have experience? anything else you'd recommend?

so you know, i do not like the double-barrell design of the Park PFP-2.

i favor blackburn since they have a great warranty/replacement policy: i go back to performance bike (where i bought my first one many moons ago), show them that it's broken, and they exchange it for a shiny new one off the shelf. i've had to replace mine 2 times, but that's over about 8 years...

i'd go back to Performance, but i live in Austin...quite a ways away. i might keep it as an emergency/travel pump.

I also have a Blackburn which is nice and is my travel pump, but once you've used a Silca you'll never go back.

:stupid: When mine starts to get a little sketchy I take out the cup and lube it with olive oil and I'm back in business. It's all I ever have to do. No $hitty plastic parts to break.... it's nice. And pretty el-cheapo, too.

My buddies Silica blows the hose off every time I get more than 120 lbs in my road tires. not an effective guage method if you ask me, but some folks may like it.
