Did anyone ride Silver Mtn this year? I heard rumor they are in the process of building FR/DH trails and plan on expanding a lot. They were renting Kona Stinkys and have plans to build many more trails in the future. I haven't ridden there in years but it had tons of trail riding but no stunts. Anyone hear anything or ride there this year. Rumor was this last summer that they were planning on competing with Whistler in the next few years. There are tons of mountains in the area. I cant imagine the possiblities. Plus the Gondola ride to the top is super long. In a full day you could only make 2-3 runs when I road there a few years ago. Each run was 15+ miles.

I rode Silver Mtn several times last year and really enjoyed it. There is one good Whister type downhill run that has just about everything. The top part has some jumps and big berms and then it's a mix of single track and fire road to the bottom. The runs are long with about 3800 vertcal. I made three runs and was pretty tired. They do rent some Kona FS bikes at the top. I would recommend going soon after they open in mid June or after it rains as the dust can be pretty bad mid summer. Development of new trails is supposed to happen as well. A pretty good effort by the crew there to get things going.

Not too many skinnies or drops from what I've seen but the locals may have a better idea where there are some. The riding isn't real slow or technical. The trail is probably a couple of miles but not the 15 miler you are thinking of.

So there are some skinnies and drops then???? There are tons of long epic DH that come down the canyon but you have to ride paved roads back to the gondola.

Are we talking the same Silver Mountain in Kellog Idaho. There is no way the DH could be a couple miles back down to the gondola. Its a 30 minute gondola ride. Its like 10 miles straight as the crow flys. Does the DH go all the way to the bottom or just to the bottom of one of their chairs? Any pics by chance?

Their site says nothing about summer mountain biking. I checked that already. Did you even check the website before you recommended it? Thanks though.

Good to see another mountain in the rockies.
What about Tamarack? I thought they were the guys going after Whistler.

Ok... There are no skinnies or drops that I know of. There may be some that the locals know about. There is a decent road gap/stepdown. The trail is from the gondola down to about a mile or so east of town and then there is a paved track along the river back to the gondola. There are a few trails that use the chairs but not much has been developed around the chairs. There are many trails, XC trails etc... I'm just referring to the main DH trail down.

Silver Mt did have info on their website but I guess it's off now. The 2200 vertical refers to the ski runs. From the top to town is quite a bit further. I made three runs and had over 9000 vertical on my altimeter. The gondola is over three miles long so the runs are more than that.
