For a 26er, if you've got regular 4 or 5-bolt cranks, go 32x16 for a start. That's the "standard" 2:1 ratio for 26" wheels.

For a smaller wheel you need a "harder" gear ratio, that's why Basik runs 32:14.

36/16 on my all purpose 26" DJ/street bike. It's a really good all purpose ratio.

Brad, your ratio doesn't feel much different than mine, does it? It's the exact same answer when you divide the bigger one by the littler one, so . . .

God, I know that this is the wrong topic, but I still feel guilty about sort of dropping my buying proposal . . . But I might as well get my money's worth out of my bruiser before I get a nice steel frame. Anyway, you'll still have the Street Fighter around until Nemesis (in the tiny possibility) goes under, right?
