Shimano makes good skewers if you aren't worried about weight. The only issue I have had is with clearance on ritchey/breezer style dropouts(they work but you restricted in the orientation) and I think on my marzocchi fork.
I haven't had any problems with stainless salsas either.
I think stainless steel skewers are the way to go. I've heard Ti can stretch when used in a skewer. Make sure they have a knurled steel interface where they clamp to the dropout.
I like the Salsas on our tandem. Most of my other bikes have Shimanos, which I don't have a problem with. The only skewers that I have not liked are those weird Mavic skewers that come on their wheel sets. I guess I like to have a skewer that has a cam type action to it.
I think Shimanos hold better than salsa, with less force. I am with wumpus on how they work on drop outs though. That said, I think salsas have too much bend in the lever.
