So I have an old 02 Schwinn Mesa Disc hardtail bike that Im in the process of removing all the mechanical parts so I can put skis on it and use it as a ski bike.

Basically its break w/e you have to in-order to remove it.
I'm having trouble with my shimmano cranks though, I have a truvativ crank puller...and the shimmano cranks have the square type of BB...I tried using a screwdrive and bashing on the inside of the rings to push it out but nothings happening *or if it is, its un noticable*.

does anyone know any trick ways to take your crank off without buying the crank pullers tool?

Take the bolts out and ride the bike around your front yard until the crank arms come loose. This may damage the arms and/or yourself so be careful.

Hehehe...doh!

Then take it to a bike shop. They will probably pop 'em off for free given the state the frame is in, but offer to pay first. If they're free buy something else like some spare tubes and lube.

A tie rod puller works even when the crank tool fails. It's a lot of fun too!

thanks guys...problem solved, I go in there alot...so now when i go in I get alot of free stuff done since i buy all my parts *well used to...till i migrated to a FR and DH store* there so they took emm off for free.


my ski bike is well on its way.
