Wonder how much time they'll actually do? I'm guessing less than 3 years each, max. The appeals process will drag on for years while they're out on bail. By the time comes to put in both in the slammer properly they'll probably have their sentences reduced because they'll be too old.

Watchin' you. Writing it all down.
I'm just going to throw this out there for sh!ts and giggles.

Do you think that they got a "fair" trial? Or did the jury just already have it in their mind that they were going to jail?

I often wonder about these high profile cases that get so much media attention (ala the Duke Lacrosse case, OJ) and exactly how fair these trials are ever going to be.

How expensive do you think their lawyers were? For the money they spent, you better believe those lawyers had every single possible trick in play: focus groups, motions for this that and the other thing, etc. Maybe the jurors had prejudices coming in, but a really good law team can go a long way in overcoming that sort of problem.

They probably got a fair trial.

Yes they got a fair trial.

The news gives you a tiny view of the issue; they have between 30 seconds and 5 min. to tell it. Once in a trial you are talking about HOURS of evidence and explanations that will go far beyond what any news report would ever be able to.

Judge Lake will have broad discretion in determining their sentences. Federal judges have imposed harsher sentences on white-collar executives in recent years. Mr. Ebbers was sentenced to 25 years, and John J. Rigas of the cable operator Adelphia Communications was sentenced to 15 years.

Judge Lake is not known for his leniency. Two years ago he sentenced Jamie Olis, a former midlevel executive at Dynegy, to 24 years for his role in a scheme to disguise the company's finances. An appeals court last year ordered the judge to revise the sentence.

Having myself worked at a Fortune 500 energy company during that whole fiasco, it's good to see they were convicted

Not sure what you mean, if I broke some rule or something but I changed my post just to keep the peace. But let's face it, there are old people that put their fortune into that company, and the CEO told the stock holders everything was fine and to buy the stock up to the last minute so he could get as much out of his as he could.

Meanwhile he unloaded his. He wouldn't have been found guilty if he did nothing wrong. My opinion.

Just remember that there are gangs of ravenous fact checkers in the Politics forum. They'll tear you to shreds if anything is posted that isn't 100% accurate.

Oh, AND you'll be banned.
