Just installed an evil chain guide with a new PC69 chain. Now it seems that instead of the chain falling off the front it pops off the rear cassette after large drops. The derailluer adjustments are perfect. Could it be the SRAM Shimano combo? Bad chain line? Worn casette? Or bad deraileur?

Or even the upper guide on the evil chainguide?

"pops off the cassette"?? Like, it gets wedged between the biggest cog and the spokes? Is it a full-suspension bike?

If that's happening, you probably have a cable routing problem which is causing your derailleur cable to tighten up when you do drops - i.e. swingarm compresses, cable stretches, moves derailleur all the way over, shoves chain into spokes....

If it's not that, could you elaborate on what IS happening? I can't really figure out what you're talking about.....

Sorry that its so vague.

I have 03 Bighit, just installed the SRS and a new PC69 chain. Any how only after big drops it jumps down the cassette.

One of two things, could it be the upper SRS guide pushing down on the chain during compression, or perhasp the cassette is worn.

I have a similar problem. I have a new chain and new cassette with an older XTR rear der. The setup is adjusted on the stand and shifts fawless. However on bumpy trails the der shifts both up and down on the cassette. I am using a MRP system 1.

I am using an 8spd setup (34 front chainring and a 11-28 cassettee) and with the der in the 28 the chain is almost, almost too tight. 30 and it wouldn't work, so I don't think its too many links. As for the rear der. adjustments, everything clicks and works like magic on the stand it only malfunctions on bumpy trails. It was sort of thinking maybe a bady der spring or something?????

A brand new chain on a old cassette isn't a very good idea. The traction between the two are poor due to the parts dont meching as they should.

A old chain takes a new cassette but not vice versa.

Most likely the feeling you will have is that when you apply power (up a cerb or going uphill) the chain skips and you cuss..
