well, i did a few races and kept flatting a lot.
i would be fine but as soon as i went off line
i would pinch.

www.bcdracing.com/psycho-billy-cadillac/sf.wmv

so i got a pair of touring road tires, i fig
they would have the thickest sidewalls.
i cut the tread out and put then next to
the inside of my motoraptors. it helped
but still flatting. i got a call from a guy
who sewed a dh tire together with kevlar
fishing line and some rubber plys in the inside.

I will try this system next.

also i emailed about running 29 dh tires
at UCI masters worlds this year and found
a interesting rule. UCI sayes 29 is the MAX
height. but them masters is open in the way
of equipment. its a long drive to kamloops.
so i don't know if i can get up there as of yet.

Chapter 7 MASTERS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

4.7.001 Only licence holders under Articles 1.1.001 to 1.1.028 and 4.1.009 may take part

in the masters' world championships. A race number will only be issued on

presentation of the licence.

4.7.002 The riders taking part in the masters' world championships represent their

country, but are permitted to use the equipment of their choice.

4.7.003 All details specifically relating to the masters world championships should be

obtained directly from the organiser or from the UCI web site.

4.7.004 The championships are usually organised in 5 year age groups: 30-34, 35-39, 40-

44, etc. Depending on the number of participants in each age group, a group may

be divided into subgroups of less than five years or joined with an adjacent age

group, in which case there will be a single overall classification.

4.7.005 An event will not be organised for a specific age group if there are fewer than six

riders at the start. However, there must always be a minimum of 2 age groups

per event.

UCI used to say 26 inch up till 2004. Meaning a 1 3/4" tire would be illegal, so go figure...

When they were about to change the rule I warned them not to just swap the 6 for a 9, but guess what...

26"=meaning a 559 or 571mm rim max
29"=700c rim max.

But they don't have a clue, and confuse "wheel" with "rim".

alex are you sure that uci rule doesnt mean more like "you can wear anything you want so dont worry about the national jersey?"
remember those rules are born in french and sometimes the translation isnt the best.

Will you have the Rampage 29" tires in time? I'm sure someone will borrow you some proto's for such a ride!

Get your mind off the 29.00" measurement.
The whole 29" rule at the UCI came into life because 26" wheels had gotten new 29" bigger brothers that they wanted to allow. Since rims are just 2.5" larger, you can use fatter tires (in theory) than has ever been allowed under the 26" rule. UCI with 26" meant "559 or 571 rims", with 29" obviously "622/700c rims". They just refuse to set their rules up correctly. The new MTB coordinator is well aware of the issues, brought to his attention by yours truly in email exchanges.
Make the fattest tires to fit a "roadie" rim you can think of and kick ass with it! But do get the Panaracers at the same time. Contact Jeff at Panaracer USA, and who knows...

mtbtires.com has all the specs you ever knew you wanted to know, and more. It's got a significantly bigger carcass than the Exi's and ever XR's, and knobs that will probably hit 60mm or more on FR rims.

Get your butt in gear and make sure you get a pair in time for the Worlds!

By any chance that wouldn't be Jeff Zell at Panaracer? If it is tell him his old business partner Jerome said to get off his rear and get you some damn tires! He should get a kick out of that....
