I have an old Cannondale HT frame that has a small crack at the weld between a chainstay and the bottom bracket tube. Is it possible to have someone reweld/fix this? Is this a good idea?
An aluminum frame requires very careful re-welding, and then heat treating afterwards.
If it's an old hardtail frame, I almost guarantee it won't be worth it to fix. Sorry - but hey, if you've got some crap parts, you could build a big ramp and make it into a lake jumper
cannondale is reported to have a decent buy back program for old frames and giving discounted price on their new replacement.

Cannondale no longer warrants their frames for life. My buddy bought an 04 Gemini that has the lifetime warranty. Their warranty is now 3 years on the frame.
Call Cannondale, or go to your LBS and have them call, see what happens.
