calabogie is about 1hr 15 mins north and west of montreal. 2 races, 2 days. every second weekend. If you head up there gimme a call, my guys go to almost every race there just to hang out and have fun

Many of the quebec cup races are at ****ty little venues, but they always seem to have super fun courses.

I too am sick of the nationals and am down with the little local races.

Fontana winter series, I wish I lived closer to them, fun track.

Parkfield in S.L.O. DH, DS, and XC all in the the San Andreas fault :)

Firestone Mountain Bike Festival in the SB wine country, I'll be working on the track in Feb or so. The DH is short but sweet!

Agreed. And the best part is no NORBLAH license required. www.mountaincreek.com. FYI: The trails and summer lift access is known as 'Diablo Freeride Park'. Check out the article in the first Litter online for more info on how the race came to be.

F da en-sea-esses!!

No pro payout.

1/2 a$$ed courses.

No media coverage.

eh...if you are a pro go to World Cups. If you are Joe racer support your local series and instead of going to a National spend your hard earned cash on a trip to Whistler or Lets Gets or something worth the cost.

I couldnt agree more with todd. At least at the canadian national races you get decent courses (excellent at bromont) and get to ride about about 12 hours in 3 days. I am so over US national races, i only go now to be with friends.

US Open no doubt. Practices weren't very long, but we got to hit all of the other mega fun trails at Diablo with all the pros. I've never done that much DHing in a two day period.

The US Open was by far the best race I have ever been to.

A few years back, I flew across the country to Big Bear, to practice and race on a fireroad with horrific man made jumps.
The very next weekend, I drove an hour from my house to race at Wolf, and had 10 times more fun. And got in more riding in 2 days than I did in 4 days at a National.
I will still go to the Nationals here on the East Coast, but Norba does not make it worthwhile to go through the hassles of flying around the country
for a race. If you are fed up, promote your own. :thumb:

yeah, seth had only good things to say about AR.

it is on my list for next year. be even better if it was aca
or outlaw with no norba afiliation at all.

Headed to the lift...
I am sick of NORBA nationals. The amount of money you have to spend compared to the amount of riding is not worth it.

List of races I will be at next year:

Bromont Canada Cup
U.S. Open
Blue Mountain races(Ontario)
some Plattekill races.

Hey, i raced against Seth at Cass, AR (not really, diff class) but i oogled over your bike all weekend  . Make sure to check out the ADHCS next year as its going to have 8 races, 6 in AR, 1 in MO, and 1 in OK. Were going to have super awesome courses next year and new ones are going up this winter.

I am all about Cloudcroft next year and The AR series was nothing but a blast. I also did two Mountain states cup races and they were also very fun. Final Decent was a blast. Still Norba but not a Nat.

I can't make the Palo Duro race this weekend (is it still happening?) but what isa the possibility of more there?

the Reading Racing Dureya urban race isnt a big one, but is really unique. If your looking for just straight up fun (the course isnt very competitive, as its made mostley of stunts that you can only hit going so fast...) its the place to be. Slap down your 40 bucks, no more bull****. Hop in the truck and start bangin out runs!

If we are all so sick and tired of norba why don't we write Ted Turner, Donald Trump, and Bill Gates telling them our game strategy for a new bike racing sanctioning body and asking for funding. Its crazy, it is very bold, it is what the racing world of cycling needs, hell it might work.

Whatever guys... Perhaps it's because I'm not a pro, but I have so much damn fun when I go to races. I love practicing (although longer practice times would be nice), walkin' the pits, shooting photos, talking to people, hanging out with the local guys... All the stuff. I'd much rather be at a national race but just because they are usally big trips over many days. Small local races are cool too though...

I kind of have to agree with Yeti on this one. I dropped out of racing and biking for a long time and up until this year the only other national I had ever done was the last Helen, GA DH race way back in 1995. Whoah I just dated myself. I do agree that I don't like the way NORBA is handling the races, but as opposed to Southern DH racing the Nationals are the best competition I'll see all year.

Check out www.cyclecyndicate.com for the best racing in the rocky mountain region. These guys are the best hands down! There event in Angle Fire New mexico brought in over 900 racers! Simply the best.
haha har.

i was racing dh at angel fire in '92. i made the first top tree section.
angel fire is the best race in that series, yes. some of the other events
were on old ncs/wc tracks that lacked the full potential of the areas.
biggest disapointment was crested butte and telluride. i road some o fthe frontside steeps in telluride and they were sick!
