Anyone else here into collecting sneakers?
For me it comes and goes, and I've been on a bit of a tear recently.
For me it started with some super-rad bright blue Nike Bruin lowtops back in HS, but lately I've been really into the Dunk and Air Max series.
This week I picked up another set of Air Max 90 Premiums in brown with some "voodoo" skull designs, my current pair got pretty beat up unfortunately:

A pair of the houndstooth Air Stabs (banned in England! :)):

and the raddest pair, some "Skate or Die" edition Dunks:

Anybody know where I could come up on a set of these?

There was a time when I was probably buying a pair of shoes a week, it was Pumas for a while, but I always come back to the Nikes. The brighter and weirder the better.

Anybody else?

He's just padding his post count.

Laura is a sneakerhead. Why are the houndstooth Stabs banned in England. Too "chav"-ish?
What a wanker.

Maybe "banned" was the wrong word, but Nike pulled them after a bit of nanny-state public bitching. Since there really aren't many guns in England, people get stabbed instead. So there was apparently some outcry about a bunch of stabbings around the release of the shoes. People saying it was "irresponsible" of Nike to name shoes that, etc. Even though the Stabs were first released like 20 years ago. Whatever.

Is that shoe really banned just because of it's name? Like hearing the word 'stab' is going to make me stab someone? Really?

Edit: at least that's what I turned up via GIS
I'm planning on stabbing someone as soon as I get them.

You obviously didn't see James thread about his new road shoes
Now THOSE are hot!

I swapped out the soft compression straps that say "Olympic Champion" on it for some plain white ones, since I'm not currently an Olympic champion...

I'm a bit of a shoe head myself, not so much lately but I still enjoy buying a pair every so often. Air Max 90s, 95s, Dunk SBs, Jordans were my steez, but I just enjoy a pair of rare dope kicks.

Its funny cuz I dont even wear sneakers that much anymore. If it aint my Shimano 66s that I'm rocking, it usually some Rainbow slippers or the corporate dress shoes.

Sickness.

Nike laughs all the way to the bank.

The idea of a $5 shoe they classify as "limited" that sells for more than a grand will forever blow my mind.

The worst part is the people buying the shoes know how little it costs to make them yet still pay ridiculous amounts of money for them.

Marketing folks at Nike monitor ebay to see what styles sell for the most. They have a whole team of marketing folks who do nothing but viral marketing of ugly shoes. Some of my friends at Nike think it's hilarious.

As do I.

250 pair @ $30,300 (reserve not met)

From the looks of that you could double or triple your money by buying those and selling them individually.
Anybody got $30k they need to invest in a semi-liquid asset?
Until they turn out like your investment in beanie babies. Now you have a lifetime worth of ugly shoes and an adjustable rate mortgage.

For $30k you could fly to China and have all the ugly shoes you want made for you. Maybe get a suite to match.

Sorry - wasn't trying to be an ass.

This thread is completely opposite of how I buy my shoes. I normally buy a pair every 8-9 months or so and always the same kind -Vans Rowley XL3. They're vegan and the lightest weight skate shoes I've ever tried so it's a win-win. :thumb:

What's funny is that these garish styles look SO similar to the ones I see at my local athletic shoe warehouse's "clearance" section. My wife always picks 'em up when we're out shopping for my new tennies and says "How about this pair? They're Nike plus they're on a really good sale." I rarely even bother to retort beyond a snort or a grunt and continue thumbing through the black, grey and white Nike or Adidas. I once had a K-Swiss pair that I really liked but more often than not, they are blinding white with some sort of pastel-ish or neon trim that screams "I bite the pillow".

I don't wear sneakers, sometimes running shoes that I buy strictly for function.

I do have a bit of a problem with everyday dress shoes in brown - finding pair of quality brown leather soled shoes with matching belt isn't easy so I buy pretty much every pair I see. Leather soled brown shoes shoes aren't for the timid - black shoes are.

I'm not at all into sneakers. I own two pairs, and pay no attention to what's cool in the sneaker world.

That said, one of my two pairs are these:
