A couple of us raced this thing last year, and it was a blast. Jonas took 1st, I took 3rd, and between the two of us, we came home with a hundred bucks in our pockets.

Date: Feb. 6; 9AM - Registration closes 8:30 AM
Place: Lost Valley Ski Area, Auburn, ME
Cost: $15

The skinny: This race is a little ghetto, and the mountain is tiny, but it's still tons of fun. The format is basically like the old World Cup "Dual" format - two riders, head to head, on the same course. It's double elimination, and they've got this sick little outdoor warming hut at the top of the mountain where everyone hangs out between motos. Last year, the turnout was tiny so the cash was easy pickins for Jonas and me. Even if you don't win anything, though, it's still a really good time at a nice neighborhood-style ski area.

More info in the attachment.

FYI,

Fraser, If you manage to make it to a snow race in Maine(~5.5 hrs) , but not a single race down at the BMX track (4.5 hours), I'm going to be dissapointed in you.
I can't tell from the flier as it's kinda blurry, but is the race at Hidden Valley? The NECCS 'cross races there are always pretty fun.

WTF?

Who holds a bike race on Superbowl Sunday?!

:p

Just kidding.. Looks like I blast, I heard it was fun last year; didn't make it due to work. Looks like I won't make it again this year due to poor scheduling!

Binary - the Pats are gonna win it all - so you can go to the race after all! ;)
Hey, just 'cause I know the outcome doesn't mean I don't want to watch the spanking ;)

The race last year started at the same time and was over by noon. The Superbowl doesn't start until 6 PM EST, so unless you want to sit around and watch Berman, Young, Irvin, Ditka, and the rest of those clowns j@ck each other off all day, you should have plenty of time to get home before the game. Either way, make sure you get the game tuned in plenty early . . . you never know who's going to flash their boob this year. :)
