Gonna do either a snow DS or a snow SuperD. They are doing a DS if the snow is packed, and a SuperD is it's not. Can't have studs bigger than 1/4". What do you all recomend for tires or for doing studs. I'm thinking of taking some old 2.6 specialized rollers(the ones that are super fat) and sheet metal screws, but i'm totaly new to snow on a bike.

If you want to part with $220+ you could get the Nokian studded downhill tires.

I just made some studded tires with 1/2" round head sheet metal screws and 2.6 kenda kenetics front/2.35 rear...about 300 in the front and 200 in the rear. I've used them last Friday down the snow board terrain park....never slipped on hard packed snow. The 1/2" stick out just a hair too much, but the tires weren't new. You might consider 3/8". The screw should stick out of the knob no more than 1/8"
Also, don't stud the center knobs. Predrilling the holes helps make the screws go where you want them to. I didn't put duct tape over the screws, I tried but got fed up. Using only thick DH tubes seems to fine so far. Make sure you have enough clearance for the screws in your frame and fork. I couldn't put the tires on my hardtail like I wanted to. Give yourself a whole weekend for production. Wear clothes you don't mind getting tears in. Those screw points are deadly.

Oh, and they look mean as hell.
