Wanted to let everyone who is planning to come up for the race know that the new course was finished yesterday. We still have a few minor things to work on, but the entire course will be open and rideable/marked for this weekend (Labor Day).

Some interesting things of note:
-4 drops in the first 1/3 of the course
-high speed and wide open woods section in the middle
-lots of re-routing and re-working of existing trails we used
-off-camber section will remain, but has had a lot of extensive work done to it
-log drop has been re-worked and the entrance and landing areas have been cleared of stumps and other problems
-a big drop underneath the lift after the log drop has been routed into the course
-ends in the same area as the old national course
-sections of the course will be spruced up with manmade jumps and drops for your riding pleasure.

We've put a lot of work in this new course and we think it'll show. I rode the course a total of 3 times yesterday and made countless runs through various sections. All I can say is that this course is much more fun than the national course (read, no flat muddy section that sucks momentum) and has a lot of speed with tons of fun drops and jumps.

Next up, lots of trailwork on the beg/sport course!

Good to hear! The only concern I have would be how much it's burned in? Are these brand new trails with 5" of soft loamy soil on top? As you can imagine, after the National I have a bad taste in my mouth (mud) from Snowshoe.

Is there a schedule anywhere? I didn't see one at racer's edge or snowshoemtn. Can we ride the freeride park when not practicing on Friday/Saturday?

Edit: Found the schedule at http://ride.snowshoemtn.com/home.html
from the thread in the VA forum, seems as though racing gets you a weekend pass to the park? Sweet!

I hear that all classes will be going on the pro course, theres just go arounds to everything for the sport/beg classes. Is this true?

How big are the drops on the course?

I cant wait!

To those concerned, we will be running two courses pro/ex and sport/beg. We came to the agreement that we would not be doing a wise thing making just one course with cheesy option routes. The new pro/ex is some old trail and some new. The new parts have been raked, worked, benched, etc and are being ridden in by all of us and whoever else shows up this weekend. The course has had a crew working on it for the last two weeks, which unfortunately did not happen for the national course (I wasn't involved in cutting the national course, so I can't say exactly what was/wasn't done).

Your entry fee for the race will cover lift/shuttle/ and park pass for the entire weekend. You'll be able to ride everything on the mountain for the entry fee price.

So are you going to run Beg/Sp and Exp/pro races at the same time? Or still have both events at seperate times. Hope the Sport course isnt too easy.
