K-Mart is acquiring Sears Roebuck for $11 Billion!

So does this mean the end to the name Sears? So we'll now have a big three of
Wal-Mart, Target and K-Mart.

How did K-Mart scrape together 11 Billion!? Weren't they about to go bankrupt just a couple of years ago?

Real estate = $$$

Kmart was forced to file for bankruptcy court protection in January 2002, but it has seen its stock soar since emerging from bankruptcy in May 2003. The stock gain has been seen as driven by the value of its real estate rather than its retail operations.
