big year for me, too. tried my hand in the working world, wore a suit every day. stepped up (again) to a big bike after scaring myself silly in mammoth way back in 2000, and definitely got more confident and faster in my riding. finally made the pilgrimage (sp?) to whistler, and spent a goodly amount of time there. :thumb: and then i dropped it all and started med school. now i'm done with gross anatomy and am a different person for it...

My pockets are light and i wound up getting some metal in my leg, but all in all things are good. Life is a great gift and there's always lessons to be learned.

2004 has been a big year for me. I bought a house, rediscovered mountain biking, and made some big changes in life. Some parts of 04 sucked but they can only improve in 2005.

It's been a CRAZY year for us!!!

In no paticular order.....
Got married
Got a new last name
Freak got a new job
I got a new job
Moved from Seattle to New Jersey
Moved from New Jersey to Seattle (1-1/2 months later!)
Got a new puppy
Bought a new house (moving date is Feb :) )
Had my 30th bday
Father had a heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery
Got rid of the last reminder of my ex by getting rid of my Blazer
Realized I wasn't quite rid of the ex when I found out he forged my signature on a line of credit :mumble:
Got new downhill bikes
Got new hardtails (despite having a stressful time getting them)
Went to Sea Otter for the first time :D

Some of these things I could have done without, some I wouldn't trade for the world.....but we're both definitely hoping for a more low-key 2005 :)

2004 was a good year…

In 2004 I left a major corporation in order to take a shot with a start-up, my wife took on a new job... actually several, and we moved from tiny and chilly Rhode Island to Sunny SoCal.

MY job is going great and I’ve become more responsible and resourceful because of the start up mentality. Plus my year end bonus is going to 2.5X greater than the largest bonus I ever got at the “major corporation“.

My wife's advanced tremendously in her career, and things look better every day. She’s earning 2x as much as she ever has, and 3x as much as her last job. She’s always had a plan of where she wanted to be, and the number of years it would take her to get there… well in the last 3 months she’s moved the timeline up about 3 years.

Only downside has been the amount of biking I do… definitely out of shape. I’ve been focusing on that for the last month, so things should be changing soon!

Can’t wait for 2005!

what is chrones? i'd never heard of it till i saw that commerical on tv.

2004....

started out living with a ****nut roomate: Jan - May. worst experience for me.

progressed into TX4000: June - August. best experience of my life. i don't know if it will ever be topped.

ended with my worst semester in school: August - December. bad experience.

in the end, the good outweighed the bad by an infinite amount.

'04 was a good year.

  • wrapped up my stint in ireland (was a very successful project, which was cool)

  • did a ton of travelling (got to see spain, denmark, london, stockholm, berlin, the french/swiss alps and prague)

  • watched my boys grow

  • rode in morzine w/ a bunch of great guys, which was fun

  • got live back in the US, which made it clearer to see what parts i missed what parts i hate

  • returned to our house (we had done a major reno just a few months before we left for ireland

looking forward to a great '05. hopefully i will do more DH w/ the wife, get in better shape, and maybe share a beer or three w/ acadian.

2004 was a good year...

- Ended an unhealthy long-term relationship
- Went skydiving
- Met an awesome girl who I'm now in a much healthier relationship with
- Got a nice digital camera, learned a lot about photography
- My family continues to be happy & healthy (for the most part)
- Decided I'm going back to school full time next year

The only real downside has been a steady decline in job satisfaction (which is okay, since I'm moving next year). My family dog died as well, which was sad, but he died quietly and peacefully, with no suffering, at the age of 14 - a long, happy life.

Hopefully '05 will be as good or better!

outside of biking, '04 was pretty blah......but I did have an awesome year of riding, racing & meeting/hanging with (new & old) biking friends, and there's definitely several I consider to be good friends

Big year for me.
-We has our first kid in September, and she just rocks my world.
-Work is going well for me - new grants, new job, new title...exciting
-Put a downpayment on a house last week.
-Bought a cyclocross bike (ok, not as big as the others, but still good)

It's been a busy, big, fun, full year, and I'm really thankful for it.

I am sure I am forgetting someone......

I think that puts the number of monkeys I have met somewhere around the 75 mark, for those keeping score.
