Really?!? Can't remember any single discussion back in the 26" days that went like: "Ohh, really nice bike, if only the wheels where bigger!!!"I agree about the shift from 26 to 650b. It's like everybody wanted bigger wheels, but nobody wanted to be a 29er f^ggot. Now everybody is adopting 650b as fast as they can spend the money. 29ers are pretty much dead aside from hardtails, but 26 is pretty much dead completely.
Your Linked-in-esque profile pic is far too serious business for these forums... just sayingAll my bikes remain 26" for next year. 29er is fully out of scope for me, 27.5 does not make much of a difference on my level. Will be the old grumpy guy people can point their fingers on.
It's not that people wanted big wheels then, as big wheels didn't exist then....but 29ers came about, there are advantages, people wanted to take advantage, but the pinkbike crowd didn't want to be labeled as spandex wearing 29er riding homos, though they saw the advantages. Then "the industry" took advantage and went full speed behind 26...just my opinion though.Really?!? Can't remember any single discussion back in the 26" days that went like: "Ohh, really nice bike, if only the wheels where bigger!!!"
We wanted better suspension, brakes, geometries, chainguides and stuff... but, bigger wheels??? Honestly, who was concerned about wheelsize???
1. you mean they went full speed behind 650b?It's not that people wanted big wheels then, as big wheels didn't exist then....but 29ers came about, there are advantages, people wanted to take advantage, but the pinkbike crowd didn't want to be labeled as spandex wearing 29er riding homos, though they saw the advantages. Not homo, more like metro or lumbersexual...maybe even SpongeBob like asexual. It's not that people wanted big wheels then, as big wheels didn't exist then....but 29ers came about, there are advantages, people wanted to take advantage, but the pinkbike crowd didn't want to be labeled as spandex wearing 29er riding homos, though they saw the advantages.
