...rough sex with ViolentVolante's mom. :D jk

Just dropped a whole lotta cash on ski DVDs. I got my first issue of Freeze magazine in the mail today (it's a new-school skiing mag), and I'm suddenly craving snow, even though it's not gonna be here for at least another 3 months. Damn this whole "waiting" thing.

Anyways, for those of you who know/care, here's what I ordered:

-WSK106 (pre-order)
-X (pre-order)
-Yearbook (pre-order)
-Session 1242 (a movie from last year, but I haven't seen it yet and I've heard too many good things about it)

If anybody's interested, I'll post some reviews when the DVDs start arriving in the mail.

And yes, skiers do go bigger than snowboarders.

EDIT: 100 more posts and I'm a turbo monkey! Hooray!

what the hell, you want the mountain bike bike season to end? What the hell is wrong with you?
Mountain bike season is 24/7 in Santa Barbara.

Ski season is 4 months out of every year.

Days skiing are more valuable than days mountain biking.

my mom is dead asshole
Hmmm... what to do...

The whole "my mom's dead" thing is a pretty common response to jokes about one's mom, and yet it's very hard to tell when it's a joke or when it's the truth. So, because I feel guilty that I may have insulted VV's late mother, I want to extend a sincere apology to Mr. Don. If your mom isn't dead, however, then you got me. Good job.

I'm feeling the serious need to invest in some ski movies...i've never been big into bike/ski vids, but i'm starting to feel the bug. Are these more jib flicks or big mountain stuff? Any recommendations you can give would be sweet.

Hmmm... Poor Boyz Productions (makers of Session 1242, WSK106, and X) tend to have more jib-oriented films, yet they never fail to get a few big mountain shots in their films as well.

Matchstick Productions (makers of Yearbook) mix it up a little better with jibbing and big mountain (usually about a 50/50 split). They have also done an excellent job of showcasing the transition of terrain park tricks to the big mountain scene (spinning off of cliff drops, natural kickers, etc.).

Teton Gravity Research makes good films too that usually have the most big-mountain footage, but I don't own any of their movies.

My all-time favorite ski movies are Ski Movie III (by Matchstick), Focused (by Matchstick), and Ready Fire Aim (by Poor Boyz). You should also check out Immersion (also by Matchstick). Not your typical ski flick, but it has great filming and editing and gives you a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside.

The focused teaser was on NWDIV and that kicked ass. I don't ski or snowboard but I still like to watch it.
That movie was not very good at all besides what was in the teaser...

Sweet, I'll check out some Matchstick stuff! I do have one Poorboyz flick (I think), it's called The Game. Came out a few years ago, but it had some pretty progressive stuff for its time.
