Google is officially my master. I am converting to the cloud.

Google Docs added the ability to upload any type of file, so all of my files are going to be hosted on Google Docs. Many already are. A few files, like my resume, have tight and complex formatting & I won't be converting them to the Google Docs format but many will convert easily.

My email has been entirely Gmail since when it was first in beta and invites were scarce. All of my other email accounts are managed by Gmail and have a tagging system to keep track of them.

Since there is now a quality Google Voice app for my iPhone (jailbroken, but still there), I am in the process of switching over to my Google Voice number.

The final straw was this morning when I finished cleaning up my Google contacts, and I'm now using ActiveSync - my entire contact list is managed in my Google account.

So what do you guys think about the idea of all of your data managed in the cloud? Does it scare you conspiracy theorists? Do you think Google is tracking me? :panic:

I figure as soon as bandwidth is plentiful enough to provide live, streaming full-resolution capture of a remote screen, we'll see the market for powerful consumer computers drop precipitously. Virtually all of the processing will be done in the cloud, files will be hosted there, and if the stream is good it'll be very similar to a local computing experience.

Mmm... Cloud.

Back to the future, mainframes FTW?

They're finally getting better at virtual desktop computing with multimedia applications (videos, gaming, etc).

I'm down with the cloud. As I said on Facebook I figure it's more likely that my computer is rooted than Google Apps.

I send probably 10-15 text messages a month and treat it like email: fully punctuated, full thoughts, and usually only in a situation where a phone call isn't appropriate for whatever reason.

Really, the "connectedness" is secondary. My phone spends a lot more time browsing the internet, emails, games, making lists, etc. than it does making and taking phone calls.

Ditto. My iPhone is a portable IMAP client/web browser first, a miniature computer to run apps second, and a phone third.
