Fortunately I have some very good friends at Cane Creek. I am doing some testing for them.Sweet Enduro! OT - what did you have to do to make that shock work? How do you like it?
No. He took the power back. And,you still remain bald.
not this again....The 29er hate thing is played out. We get it, some people don't like 29ers. I used to think the 29er people were annoying but I think the anti 29er people are even moar annoying. We're all here to ride bikes, have fun and geek out over new bikes and products, whatever size they might be.different size wheels are just silly IMO.
+you can't steal a wheel from one bike to the other if you need a spare in a pinch
+you can't stick a DH tire on the rear of the trail bike if you are looking to pin some pedal access ultra rockiness
+as of this minutes there is a lack of decent tires for both sizes, the best you can get is a 29'er ardent/hans dampf or a 27.5 racing ralph. yuck. at least you could run a happy medium or cross mark 2.25 if you live in the dry on a 29'er.
+other wheel sizes = no DHF, no BBG, no HR2, no MM, no Butcher, etc...
just some food for thought.
seriously. So many of the arguments in this thread are hashed out and useless. I tried it but decided 29ers aren't for me. I'd love to try that Devinci, but I can't afford it. Even the tire argument is tired- most of the same tires that anybody would actually want to ride on a 26 are available in 29. 650b is still the ugly duckling but the neo motos are really good. If you need double ply super sticky tires, you probably shouldn't be on a 29er anyways. For most people, Schwalbe's nobby nics are good, neverrolls are good, or many others.not this again....The 29er hate thing is played out. We get it, some people don't like 29ers. Funny how the stars align like that eh? I had a lot of fun on that rig.Funny how this review just popped up:
It would be really cool to try one of those in my size. Seemed like a dialed setup.Funny how the stars align like that eh? I had a lot of fun on that rig.
Pretty much every tire except for the Minion is available in 29" sizes. Even the Butcher. Your argument is invalid.different size wheels are just silly IMO.

I just assumed he was talking about Minions actually...Pretty much every tire except for the Minion is available in 29" sizes. Even the Butcher. Your argument is invalid.
It's all good. I'll still talk $hit about your bike. Why? Cuz no matter what brand or type, it's not as good as mine ;-)

Shiii....its not the amount of travel, it's the quality travel. Mines still better.Your bike sucks b/c it doesn't have enough travel. Just 10mm away from being truly bada$$, too...

how many dh riders do you think ride exo's front and rear on their downhill bike? 2%? less?do people really ride DH casings on their trailbikes? I mean, lots of people are switching to the 1.5ply exo casings to save weight on their downhill bikes(they apparently don't get pinchflats). Would you really want to lug a double ply tire up for a little extra protection down?
Yeah, maybe I didn't explain it well.. I'm not fighting the bike, the bike actually corners really well, it just took a tweak of technique to get to that point. Anyway horses for courses... I like what I'm riding right now.You can tell by some of these post who actually has spent some time on a good trail oriented 29er and who hasn't. You nailed it with this. I can turn my stumpy evo 29 easier than a 26. It just takes a small adjustment to riding style. I actually find it much more fun cornering on a 29. No fighting required Cliffy.
The only downside I have found with a 29 is that it's not as loose in the air. But it is stable.
Tires are also not an issue anymore. I think Specialized is even selling a Butcher now.
This is coming from an anti-29 guy until about 9 months ago.
Butcher 29x2.3 was only just introduced to our dealers at our launch a couple weeks ago (along with our updated Purgatory 29x2.3 and Ground Control 29x2.3). None of that new 2013 product is on our site yet, but should be available for the shops to order very soon.provide links to 29'er butcher...
i am certainly not seeing them as in-stock at any distributor in the US, nor on the companies websites.
We haven't yet found a compelling reason to change the tire designs between 26 and 29er (expect for minor changes in pitch (circumferential spacing). Obviously there's those in this thread that have figured out that you can really lean the bikes over, but more commonly we find that riders tend to stay more upright on their 29ers (especially beginners and xc riders). We used to assume that the latter riders would need more intermediate knobs and less cornering knobs, but testing hasn't always been consistent.Awesome...29x2.3 Butcher..gonna raise the bar!
Although I wonder if 26" tire design necessarily carries over to 29". We all know you have to lean a 29er more in the corners, so does that mean a rounder profile will be better? Intermediate blocks more necessary?
