Myself and at least one of my friends are really interested in purchasing the DOC, alas we have to figure out the best way to get them in to Australia.
I know I should email them myself, but asking here I'll get a variety of feedback... do Evil sell direct, or do I have to purchase it through a bike store to get them over here? I'm not exactly sure of where to go from here regarding the purchase. The Australian distributer for Evil/E13 doesn't do frames... actually, they don't do much, they're even out of stock for just about everything, which makes life very difficult :mumble:

We're really psyched to hear that you guys are so fired up about the DOC frames. Ill ask the Evil office to look into bringing some frames into Australia for you guys and report back. We have a couple of ideas. It may work out just right.

Thanks guys!

I was thinking about it...

I have an Imperial now and it feels alright, a little cramped seeing as I am about 6'3''. I was wondering if anyone 6'+ has any experience on the long version.

Maybe Dave can answer this question... Will I be more comfortable on the D.O.C. then my Imperial?

Hey Rocky,

I made this graphic up just for you!

At 6'3", you are on the tall side of riders who own Imperials. There are a lot of tall guys out there rocking the bikes, but some guys your size could use a little longer top tube. Shown in this graphic is a regular size DOC and an Imperial (1 size only). The long TT DOC will have about a 1 inch longer top tube. It was made to perfectly fit guys from 6'2 to 6'6. Obviouslyt there will be overlap on sizing because everyone's body is different. Some 6'3" tall people will prefer the regular and some 5'11" tall people will prefer the long. This should give you guys a good idea of how the 2 bikes geometries compare.

Keep in mind when you look at the graphic that the Imperial is shown in the 15.5" dropout setting adn the DOC in the 15.75 setting. If both CS lengths were identical, then the Centerlines of the TT measurement at the head tube would line up very closely, and the seat height for most street riders would give an almost identical TT center to center measurement. The Imperial will have a little lower BB and a little steeper head angle.

Hope this helps!

Sounds pretty good to me. I was wondering if I can put my own name down on a frame even though I am only 15, my parents want nothing to do with my bikes so it all comes from my wallet, what do you guys do in these situations?

Thanks a bunch, Dan

Rocky -
Getting on the wait list for a DOC is no big deal at all. You can get one directly through us here at the office. Just give us a call at 207.772.3132 or email me at support@evilbikes.com and we can get you on the list. Easy as that. When the frames arrive we give you a shout and then we take care of business - no deposits or anything.
It's gonna be your frame brotha', so we deal directly with you........

Jonas

dave, was the graphic done with a regular headset or zero stack on the imperial?
Yo Piper,

The Imperial graphic is shown with the OnePointFive standard headset. Using a zerostack steepens the head angle on the Imperial by about 0.5 degrees.

Hi guys,

Here are the spec sheets that someone asked for in the Sovereign thread. There are 3 sheets. One is for a 26" wheel street/ park/ dj setup, the second is for a 24" wheel street/ park/ dj setup, and the third is for a 26" trail/ bikepark setup.

that trail setup would suit me personally the best...now I just have to make the decision whether I want to go HT or FS...might save a bit of cash on a HT...and I don't really NEED a FS...but it'd be nice having one anyway. a surprisingly hard decision...

I am....can't wait - going to be a single-speed dirt jump machine with an '02 Z1 QR20, Husselfelt cranks, Rhynolite wheels, Maxxis Minion 2.35/Bling-Bling for tires, CK headset (of course!)

I really enjoy jumping my Trek Bruiser 2 - but I am so stoked on getting into a steel frame and single speed (you GOTTA love landing jumps and it's dead quiet)...

I have a question about the fairly lengthy top tubes in both regular and long sizes.

Does this effect the difficulty of doing 180's, and 360's (spin tricks) at all? I was told once that a long tt drastically increases the effort required to spin a bike..

Also, I've noticed that all the setups are REALLY street/dj specific...

Please ease my doubts as to whether or not the frame and its geo would still rip as a trail bike with say a Z150 drop off on it!!!!

I'm looking for an all around ripper of a hard tail (strong, great geo)..

three ht frames i'm looking at:

1) le toy III or IV
2) small banshee morphine
3) evil d.o.c.

SELL ME!!

Yo!

So take a look at this picture, then read this message.

http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=68338

You see, with a steeper head angle, short rear end, and short stem, the front end of the bike is actually pretty damn short! Keep in mind that this is virtual TT length. Virtual TT length is just a rough measurement of where the seat is placed. Your real front end measurement comes from your front center or DT length. Donahue and Nigel are pulling effortless 540s on the bikes, so thats gotta be a testament to "spinability" :)

The DOC literally was desinged to work as a dual duty bike that could run 24-24 or 26-26 street, or 26-26 aggressive trail riding like found on the North Shore and at Whistler and other bike parks. The geometry came straight from Chris Donahue with some ergonomic tweaks here and there by yours truly. Here's the geometry chart for the Z150 right here!

Hope this helps!

Hey DW - I may have missed it, but what's up with the e-13 pedals?
With all of the cousulting work I did this year, I did not have the time to stay on top of the pedal maker to get our pedals built. The axle design and all surrounding it is pretty unique, so the project is taking alittle longer because of that. I am working on this project again pretty hard, and we plan on having new parts over the winter for testing. if all goes well, we'll be to market with them in 2005.
