I wouldnt get too amped up just yet, I mean, the bikes are done, I have personally seen them, I know the guys in the Evil office are just being cautious because they dont want to over promise. It takes a while to ship out every frame once they are in the warehouse. Some people will have frames sooner than others I would bet. Guys who are stocking dealers like Unreal Cycles, Go-Ride, Belmont Wheelworks etc... order multiple frames, and placed orders early, so they will get frames in stock first. Actual dates, I dont know, but seeing as the frames are completed, boxed, and shipping, I cant see it being too long of a wait.

Dave
That would suck for a lot of guys if Evil dealers were/are allowed to buy up the whole first batch.

Holy smokes. With some of the rumors you guys get going around here, it's like reading the National Enquirer. Here's the no BS straight poop:
-Frames were done welding/painting/finishing a week or two ago.
-Frames were assembled (drop-outs installed/der hanger installed/etc.) last week.
-Frames were put into boxes this week, and should be loaded on a boat sometime in the next couple of days or beginning of next week (it's 10:30 PM on Wednesday here on the East coast, meaning it's 11:30 AM Thursday in Taiwan), as long as those horrible tsunamis and all that destruction didn't interrupt international sea shipping. Speaking of which, I hope you will all take 2 minutes out of your day and a couple of bucks out of your pocket and donate to UNICEF to help all those poor people whose lives have been devastated:
http://www.supportunicef.org/site/pp.asp?c=iuI1LdP0G&b=276341

It generally takes 4-6 weeks to get something to us once the boat hits the water, but it could be longer depending on customs and shipping schedules. The fact is, we don't have a definite date, as we can't predict the weather or how long these may take to clear customs. Personally, I would guess about 6 weeks.

Finally, I'm about 95% sure that everyone who is on the waitlist will get one out of this first batch. I haven't run the numbers lately, but at last count a week ago, we had enough for everyone in spades.

Please be patient, and know that we're working our butts off to get these to you as fast as possible. Expect a call in the next week or two to get a deposit, so that we can begin to get a definitive picture of how many frames we have left. Right now, we're short-staffed during the holiday period, so please don't call to try and do a deposit until we've contacted you first

Thanks again for everyone's interest!!

I hope this helps,

LOL. You know me John. Just rufflin' the feathers.

I couldn't pass up the chance to create mass panic. You'd think to some the arrival of the first batch of DOC's is the second coming of Christ. If I don't get one til the second batch I won't shed a tear. Gone are the foolish days of selling my only mtb and hoping the replacement shows on time! Always have something to ride now while waiting for something else to come around. ;)

It is the second coming, for some reason i think the DOC is gonna become the new subject of ridicule on this board, similar to the rootbeer bullits and green doublewides of the past...but this time with good reason...They are the best tool for the job

I am with you man, i have my bike NOW so i can keep riding, i just cant wait for the DOC, it is way more jewelry than the ruckus frame i am on  :dead:

Keep in mind that the geometry #s are based off of taller forks, forks from different makers have different ride heights, so it always plays with geometry.

The DOC with a 5 or 6 inch fork is made to rip bikepark and slopestyle along with street and park with the shorter forks.

I love the non-typical geo. I like running 3" forks for XC and street/park/DJ, but most burly hardtails get way too steep and too low with forks that short. I'm glad the DOC isn't like the other 1000 hardtails designed to be steep with useless (for street/park/DJ, IMHO) 5"+ forks.

This thing is going to seriously be a rockin' aggro-XC bike for me! I like short forks, a bit slacker HA, a higher BB, shorter stays, oh and nice steel construction. The ability to SS with no tensioners is another big plus. Man, I get excited every time I think about it! Thanks dw for reading my mind.

Just out of curiosity, why the huge price difference between the DOC (~$450 US) and the Sovereign (~$775 US)?

Slap me now if this has already been answered... It's supposed to snow here and I'm lazy today. :)
DOC uses lesser-grade steel and overseas construction and more basic paint. Think that's about it.

The Sovereign has a Reynolds 725 rear end and and 853 front end. All custom tubes on both, but the Sovereign tubes just cost a heck of a lot more and need special attention during welding. Sovereigns also have some pretty trick powdercoat jobs and those cost a huge amount of $$$ also.

The D.O.C. is just an insanely good deal. We arent out to get rich off any frames, we do it because we love it, and the pricing on all the Evil frames reflects that.

haven't had a call or email yet...still a few weeks out I'd think based on dw's previous statement about the bikes shipping from Taiwan...figure 4 weeks on the boat, couple of weeks to clear customs etc. - it's only been what, 3 weeks since they got on the boat? calls should be soon though huh?

can't be soon enough, my local jump spot is friggin TIGHT right now!

Ha! How did I miss this post?! Yeah, I remember that night when you called, was a good chat. I love brainstorming like that!

I was just chatting with one of our XC team riders today. Might pick up his 2x used Fox F80RL for the DOC! I think I may have the most XC build around muahahaha! The frame will most likely be the only truly "burly" part used. Am I sick or what?! :eviltongu
