When are the US citizens going to see the benefit from our evil take over of middle eastern oil? I mean we went in there because of the oil, right?

I want my gas back down to $1.35/gallon again, damnit! Why else would we have gone in there? :sneaky:

So is it still believed that we went in there because of oil? I just don't see that presumption baring fruit.

I want my cheap gas....Bush promised us cheap gas!

Shell and Texaco station DT Bothel WA:
Monday- Shell 1.99 Texaco 1.99
Tuesday AM- Shell 2.03 Texaco 1.99
Tuesday PM- Shell 2.07 Texaco 2.09

 I know it isn't the most expensive but 4-9 cents a day increase is insane! It is up like 20 cents in the last 2 weeks

Sorry I needed to vent

I went to fill up the Tacoma this weekend and was shocked to see $1.80 a gallon for regular. I know $1.80 is not that high for you PNW :monkey: 's, but for us middle americans, it's high.

Operation Iraqi Liberation is more about long term benefits...ya can't go lowering the prices so soon after the war cause it's a tipoff that oil was a factor

but I'm guessing that a lot of people are painting angry slogans asking why gas prices are so high on the back of their "no blood for oil!" placards right now...

Funny thing about those who are "outraged" by the price of gas is that a lot of them will gladly fork over $5 a gallon for a bottle of Aquafina when they are done filling up. Maybe they need a little high octane for their personal tank and will grab a Red Bull at $28.16 a gallon or swing into Starbucks for a cup of drip coffee at $11 a gallon.

The latter of those are unnecessary but clean drinking water is something we are already paying our public utilities to provide us with. If your drinking water sucks so bad that your have to by bottled water, that's something to get pissed about.

I guess I'm crazy but I think $2 a gallon seems kinda cheap for pulling crude out of the ground, refinining it, and putting it in my tank thousands of miles way.

Kinda like 37 cents to take a piece of mail anywhere in the US has always seemed like a good deal too.

Sorry Toshi. I skimmed the first 10 articles on that search page and came up with zilch of what you mentioned above. they were about increases in oil production, the $$$ being raised in Iraq and the reason being the armed forces security around the oil as being able to make it happen.

Still doesn't show in any of those articles that we went in for there oil. Will we take some to help subsidize costs of rebuilding Iraq....most definately. Is that wrong? No...it has been done before. Are we hording the oil all for ourselves? No.

I still don't see substantiation for the claims we went in there for oil...and not to remove Sadam....and not because we are good guys, defending freedom.

My post was more gas price in nature than oil in iraq....but it tied in so well, I decided to include it. :D

Becasue you, I, and every other idiot in america keeps buying it. Supply and demand is an amaizing simple concept - price it as high as possible until they stop buying, then lower it until they start again.

We have not stopped buying, so they will continue to increase the price. It's called capitalism...

You can't blame the companies for making as much profit as possible, any smart business would do it.

The smarter business would find an alternative that puts them out of business. But that would take too much effort and time, and I would hate to miss the _______ (fill in your fav.) on TV.

I agree bottled water is a rip off....though I buy it from time to time. Usually if itis cold and I want a cold glass of water. I do buy the $.89 gallon jug of water at Safeway for the races because I am to lazy to fill my HUGE orange Igloo water cooler before I head out.

At this rate buy next month I will be paying over $3/gallon and so on. I have been watching the local gas prices and they have been steadily increasing pennies a day with some wierd hicup last week I think when they dropped like 5 cents then climbed backup all the while the local stations never dropped thier prices. I see the same stations in the morning and night raising the price again and again. the $.10 in 12 hours really hit me hard maybe it was because it finally went over $2 (1.99 to 2.09) but I don't see it even leveling off....it just keeps climbing.

Drinking water in Ellensburg during college was nasty....to much cow manure me thinks. :) I am sure it was "safe" but it tasted nasty. My home water (Seattle) is A#1 in my book. :thumb:

So Brock, how much a gollon for them micro brews you drink :)

I don't drink a drop. The only brewed stuff I drink is Tea, Coffee, and an occasional Thomas Kemper Rootbeer (at about $13 a gallon).

I don't have any facts... but I wonder if our demand is really that steady? With SUV's being so popular, the return of the muscle cars (yes, there are vehicles worse than SUV's out there), the increase in building of homes (think heating oil, cooking gas & electricity demands) and population growth, is the demand really steady?

I can't drink....so I am with you.

I don't go for the latte stuff but i did get a gift coupon from work so I used it on a ice cold Carmel Frapaccino (sp?) :o:

That Thomas Kemper stuff is good but expensive also.

Can't tell you for sure but the increase seems to be overcompensating for any increases.......it is insane.

I am lucky I only have a 10 mile commute to work. Over two large ridges....I guess I can bust out my bike....but but but but....:o: :) One I can break teh climb into sections but add some distance to a ride in one direction......

I have a 6 mile commute which I try to bike a couple times a week... but the only problem is straping the mountain bike to the back of the road bike... and vicie-versa.:D
