Martin Soderstrom had a fantastic weekend these past few days in Winterberg Germany where he competed in all 3 events and was awarded 2500 Euros for his first place victory at the Dirt Masters Slopestyle event.

During his first and last qualifying run at the slope style event, Martin executed his tricks with enough style and precision to land him second place in the qualifying round. The event started out windy, making the riders nervous, but died down as soon as the sun set.

At the beginning of the course, the riders went off a drop that threw them into their first kicker. Following the first kicker came a medium sized step up that pushed the rider into a big bowl where hundreds of fans stood at the edge cheering and yelling when each rider got close. The last jump of the course was the biggest, and most riders ended with a backflip. The announcer said there were 25000 people at the event, most of which were crowded along the edges of the course everywhere you looked.

The riders had two rounds in the finals to impress the judges. Only the best round counted. Martin's first round composed of a 360 double whip which sent a shockwave through the crowd. However, it wasn't until he landed his signature triple tail-whip on the last jump, when the crowd went off.

The judges Announced the top three riders at the podium. Once the announcer gave the microphone to Martin who was just crowned the overall winner of the slopestyle event, the crowd sprayed him with beer In celebration. The award ceremony concluded with loud music and multiple bear hugs to the winner. One big group of fans chanted his name as they walked off of the course yelling into a loudspeaker.

"Wow that was one hell of a weekend! To do all 3 disciplines was way harder than I had expected,it was stressy, hard to change bike all the time and hard to stay focused on the thing you where riding at the moment. But overall it was a very fun weekend and managed to win the slopestyle so that was sweet!"

This is Martin's first slopestyle win of the season, and he has gone home happy after qualifying in two events back to back, and winning the other. Be sure to check out Martin and his Specialized P.3 at 26 TRIX in Leogang Austria June 18th.
